My pigon blood discus has been really horny lately. He has spawned before but the eggs never made it they always eat them. This time my pigeon spawned with my ugly brown snakeskin mutt female. The eggs hatched I have tiny wigglers. I have had these discus a year now. I never got wigglers. It's pretty exciting. I am not doing anything to save the fry so I don't think they will make it. So far the parents got it right and are doing a great job keeping the fry safe. They are on the intake tube and that is not safe. Besides the babies would be ugly fish but I kind of like to see what they would be.

Omg they are moving the babie right now. Wow I will post video soon.

Here are my proud parent fish moving the fry. This new big branch I added to the tank really put them in the mood.

Aren't you a proud parent? Very nice! I think the babies could turn out decently! The profiteer in me would raise the fry and sell them off! Congrats!

I doubt these fish will produce nice fry but its fun to watch nature take place in your own home. Tbh the market is flooded with poor quality discus.

I would not sell these fry they would be poor quality fish total mutts. The mom has a chip eye she is the lowest of the low quality. The dad is not bad but not a pure pigeon he has ok shape. If we're going to raise some I would be just so I could see what this mix would look like.

If any make it cool I will keep them. If not I am still happy I got wiggles.

Thanks guys

You never know 1 or 2 fry could turn out nice but most would not. We will see if I get them to free swimming sage. Take mates are other discus, cory cats, sae, clown Pleco. So maybe the parents can raise a few fry.

The fry are still alive and well. I need to do a wc. It will be amazing if a fry makes it. I hope I get one to keep. I put a sponge on the filter intake so that will not be a danger. So far the other discus Are giving them space. Fingers crossed I get to see fry feeding off parents.

Well the fry are gone. Looks like I have a new pair getting together.

As the discus world turns. What do you think happened to them? Or rather who is the guilty party?

Sounds like an exciting time there in South Lake!

Nice tank :good: my last pair always ate their eggs didnt even get wrigglers, going to pick up a pure pair at somepoint and give it a go. What tree is that you have in the tank?

The branch is a manzanita branch I cut my self.

Yes the discus are crazy they spawned again same pair. Not sure who got the last batch maybe the ex lover of the father haha.

Hi there, it was pleasant watching the clip of your discus spawning. They look too young to spawn how old are they.
Actually I have a pair of Turq and Orange Pigeon in a 1500l aquarium, waiting for them to breed someone told me the offspring of this will be ugly if they spawning. Can you plz send the pics of the offspring.
You can watch my pair here >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnxGM4i1Cb8

Thanks

No my fry did not make it. I am not trying to breed they just do it.

The 2 in the video are a year old they are stunted fish store discus so not worth raising the fry.

Raising fry is lots I work and I don't have time. I say if you want raise your fry and some will turn out nice but some might look like a mess.
