I just changed from gravel to pool filter sand, and even after thorough rinsing, the water is still a bit cloudy. My fish are currently waiting in a plastic bucket but I don't want to leave them in there for too long. I have read that it takes about, on average, 5 hours to a few days for cloudy water to clear up after switching to PFS. I was wondering if it's safe to put the fish in. I am doing small water changes as well.

The specs: 10 GL, freshwater, no plants
  • Ammonia 0
  • Nitrite 0
  • Nitrate 20
  • pH 7.6
The fish (if it matters): platy, guppy, guppy fry, and cory.

I switched my substrate with the fish still in the tank and they were fine.

It's just fine particles of sand needing to settle, they'll be fine.

Agree it fish will be fine. In nature substrate gets turned up and water is cloudy. It's fine.

agreed, i put my fish in and i couldnt even see them because of how cloudy the water was and my fish were fine.
