Playsand (argos, homebase ect) works perfectly fine if you're on a budget too as it's cheap and looks just as good most of the time. Easier to clean then gravel too once you get the hang of it.

Just noticed something in my tank has managed to take a chunk out of my plecs mouth, 1 of the 'mouth whiskers' has been biten right off. There's abit of blood around the mouth area so i'd imagin it happened recent. Should i do anything other then water changes to help?

You're doing nothing wrong, my bet is it's down to the water flow. My 90L had the same issue, try a powerhead or something to get it moving - worked for me.

The male bullied the female to death too, i was too late to move her :-(

Who's the 'top dog' in your tank? Just recently my male krib (not fully grown) has put my 5inch male green terror in his place so much that i might have to remove the male krib.

Just reminded me of the chuckle brothers :lol: The tanks been at that temp for roughly going on 2year, i try not to play about with it as i don't want them breeding until the other female is rehomed. I think it hits roughly 28c max, i just don't want to cause any longterm damage as i hear...

Would you suggest that i should drop the temp a little then mate?

Topic title basicually, temperature should i have my tank at for GTs? Normally sits at about 26-27c, some websites say 20-24c some say higher though. I know turning temp up can help with breeding but yeah lol ^^

The only thing i can think of is it could be used for people that are currently doing a tank cycle? Maybe some kind of chart with different fish species and recommended tank sizes/tank mates/water stats ect but even still that would only be rough guidelines as everything is pretty much trial...

Buy a hose pipe or some clear pipe and cut the length you want, stick one end into the tank and suck on the other - after a few mouthfuls you'll master it no problem. The suction is so powerful i almost sucked up one of my panda cory :lol:

Using a APS 2500 (I think) in my 55g, does the job apart from 1 major dead spot but that's down to my filters lame flow lately.

I personally just use a hose pipe, smaller the 'tube' the more it sucks. My gravel vac tube fits inside the hose pipe so that i can do the little 'pump' to get it going and then i just disconnect them under the water.

Complete darkness for my tanks too, only thing i get through the night is a green terror 'knocking' on the tank lid every now and again. There's a video of an oscar scared of the dark on youtube too :lol:

Researched properly i personally think it'd be easy as pie to do, like building a computer seems hard but it's really common sense although if done wrong can be a mess, like a tank would be i guess lol.

Currently have danios in a 90L, they deffo need a longer tank though so i'm going to rehome mine shortly.

I left the fish in the tank when i switched over to sand, takes abit longer though. Storage box for the fish should be fine, sometimes do this myself to make rescapes a little easier.

I sometimes rinse filter floss under tap water to give them a little longer 'life', upside down on a high pressure tap removes all the dirt. Few dips in some 'dirty' tank water after as the filter floss in my filter is above the bio noodles.

Not sure, i've seen some kind of tropical fish related game on the PS3 store a while back though but i didn't bother to look it up. They should make a game like the sims but for fish tanks :good:

I just use a hose pipe end, my gravel cleaner wouldn't suck anything up apart from sand. If it's a small tank, you could master the art of sucking on the end of the hose pipe. On my larger tank my gravel vac pipe fits inside the hose pipe and i just start it by 'pumping' it then disconnect them...

I kind of fit into this topic a little... I've not got a pleco in my smaller tank as for the reasons mentioned, too much poo. Although in bigger tank i've got one but if i was to go back though i'd of got myself a smaller species of pleco. Although they do hide most of the time i still find...
