Hey,
Well i have had sand for ages and it is starting to bother me....
Everytime i do a water change i of course try and clean the sand. I use a gravel cleaner and 'hoover' it over the sand but it doesn't seem to get it all up and i still have some stuff on the bottom of the tank :/
So what is the 'Best' way to clean the sand?

- i am doing a whole tank clean out- fish in tub- on the weekend so i will wash the sand out then, but for future refference ^^^^

I find if you swirl the gravel cleaner around a bit it lifts the dirt them you can hoover it up :good:

I just use a hose pipe end, my gravel cleaner wouldn't suck anything up apart from sand.
If it's a small tank, you could master the art of sucking on the end of the hose pipe.

On my larger tank my gravel vac pipe fits inside the hose pipe and i just start it by 'pumping' it then disconnect them under the water.

You can always just suck up the top layer of sand, rinse it in the bucket and then tip it back in.

put a few handfuls in a bucket fill with water swirl it around wait for it to settle
them poor of the water keep doing this till it settle very quick and the water is clean....

Thank you all :)
i will try the hose pipe and if i fail at that i will take the top layer of sand off :)
