I'm pretty sure the cory's wont bother with the algea, there more of a substrate cleaning crew, i would go with the oto's but i've read that they need a mature tank.

Thanks for the reply, i have read in other threads that some people put ottos in with them, are you advising no tank mates at all? what about a male and female one do you think that would be ok?, it seems a shame that he will be all alone :(

Hi there, We are considering setting up a dwarf puffer tank but as we are away for 2 weeks in April (getting married in Antigua!!) how can we ensure the puffer has enough food for this length of time, our community tank will have a food timer on it, can we put lots of snails in before hand? I agree with Daz 100%, the fish should always come first and if you ask people if they like your tank and you state whats in it people who know about stocking levels and compatability will mention it.

I would turn the lights off, including the room lights, to see if they come out, the lights maybe too bright, have you got moonlights fitted? that may help. (Just my thoughts)

Hi ya, i now its not much help but i have the same probs!! i changed my internal juwel for an eheim 2236 but still floating particles!! i have started using filter floss and am changing it every 3 days at the mo to see if that helps :/ i'll let you know if i find the magic touch.

Your knackered if you use any external heater that uses the filter to pass water through it, if the filter packs up the water wont pass through the heater. :/

I used matt black blackboard paint from focus do it all 2 coats job done :good:

As i only have one white filter and one blue filter the rest is 'pebbles' i thought the pebbles held the good bacteria and the other just cleaned the bits from the water? (i have so much to learn, and to top it off i'm looking into CO2!!!! :rofl: ) things i get myself into!! :blink: :blink:

I have actually emailed eheim to ask what they say there filter systems goes down to in microns. Could i then remove all foam filters in my filter this would allow more flow and just run the pebbles with the other filter? (again just thinking out loud).
