^Pretty much what he said - ive got an led thermometer in the oppsite corner to the heater & filter. That way if that parts up to temp - the rest will be (i think that makes some sence anywhoo lol)

Buy a proper stand! :good: Most LFS will sell you one seperate - doesnt matter if its a little bigger - but trust me dont try to use book cases or cheaply made furniture - i've seen the after affects!

The net idea sounds top, Ive used fishing weights before (the plastic coated non toxic ones) & tied them on with a bit of fishing line for things ive needed to stop floating

I replace my sponges when thet cannot be rinsed anymore. Depends really on your tank & how dirty it gets - but i would change the top white pad & carbon app every 2/3 months. Most lfs sell them cheap, i get mine from maidenhead aquatics. I would imagine they are pennies on ebay

Could you not get a fluval to fit inside the case? I've not had a problem with my Juwel at the minute, but i hope they arent that bad :unsure:
