I find a problem here... a pleco tank??? plecos can get territorial at larger sizes... I'm not saying that yours might not be aggressive... but come on a 70 litre tank?! 5 or more plecos in there!? Get atleast a 55 gallon tank for them if your going to keep a pleco tank... 70 litres is like 25...

Well there are some chemicals to lower nitrate... but your best bet would be to do a few water changes and everything should be ok :D still since you used half your old tank I'm assuming that everything worked out and you were able to pretty well skip your cycling process... Let me know about...

Hey just wondering, I'm restarting my 55 gallon tank and curious to know if, instead of a community tank, a tank a say 4 or 5 2 inch piranahs would work? Or would that just be cruel?? Not enitrly sure I want to do it seeing as my american cichlids are alot of work as it is... and they swallow...

the tiger swimming around alot should be normal they are quite active... But as for not coming to the surface?! something is strange there! make sure you cycle the tank and return the fish to the store, or give them to a friend with an already established tank

To tell you the truth your 29 gallon has a capacity of around 20 (small) community fish, it's all personal preferance... and personally I like neon tetras get a school of 6 of em :P lol

Neons tend to school very nicely... however if one of your neons is the odd man out so to speak, then he is stressed out for some reason, try testing your water before you add anymore fish. I've found that angle fish are quite hardy given the correct care I've kept a school of 4 of them now and they're in perfect health. be careful with water changes are they are sensitive to temperature drops and may die :( good luck

in an 18 gallon tank your pretty much maxed with what you have... Although if your using more filtration, say 30 gallon filter for the 18 gallon tank, and have an air pump you might be able to sneak in a few more dwarf gouramis... Good luck :D
