I think I know the answer, but its worth asking.

I have an established goldfish tank, and after seeing posts about getting mature media from other people, I'm asking on the off chance could I use some media from the goldfish tank, to help start a fishless cycle.

This could be a filter sponge, gravel, plant and/or rocks.

I'm expecting the answer as no, but the answer maybe you could put a small handful of gravel in or a stone, just to help things get started without it putting dangerous chemicals into the tank

thanks

Well, I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to.

Are you putting chemicals into your goldfish tank?

By the way, unless you have an undergravel filter in you goldfish tank, putting a handful of gravel in there won't help at all.

Try using the filter media to begin they cycling on your new tank... It should work... I don't see why it wouldn't it's just like swapping the filter media from any tropical tank to another so it should be ok... I agree with what neon said though, unless you have an underground filter it won't help AT ALL to drop in gravel. If you have any live plants in your goldfish tank those may work aswell but be prepared incase of a mass algea attack :p anyways good luck :D
