Fish Crazy
Hey, I've got my old 55 gallon tank that's been set up for oh say 2-3 months now and I'm restarting it as a community tank, currently I have south american cichlids but the upkeep is way more than I can handle seeing as I'm dealing with a 75gallon tank of african cichlids aswell... so I'm giving my fish to a pet store (my friend owns it and is only using my fish as display untill his 110gallon tank is ready for them ) and I'll be restarting the tank THIS WEEK!!!
So here's my question... I know that I should cycle my tank, but to make it a quicker cycle is it possible to use say 1/4th of the existing water along with the same filter media to help cycle my tank? I've been reading up about using the old filter media that has bacteria and I'm going to do that but I'd still prefer to keep some existing water in their for more bacteria. Will this work? Any help would be great! Thanks
