do they get the breeding colours even without a male in the tank ?

do convicts change there colour when mating as my 2 have just started to get some lovely goldish spots on there bellys and sides

i will be using sand as i find it much easier to clean what about bog wood also as i have it in my tank now this will be the tank the firemouths are staying in

Hi what size max do fire mouths and convicts grow to and what would be the best tank decor to put in for them to hide amongst ?? they will be 2x each in seperate tanks cheers

i dont have a test kit the fish isnt bloated but compared to my other female is around half the size she hasn't grew since i got her where as the other female is almost the size of the males

Im after some hardy plants for my tank are these a hardy plant Cabomba caroliniana or Ceratophyllum demersum 'Foxtail' if not im after something that looks like them cheers

i would say a Ceratophyllum demersum from looking at some pics online

since i pruned and re-potted my ferns all the leaves have started falling off leaving almost all the 8 plants bare also would the tannins in my bogwood have anything to do with it as the tank is slightly golden from it any ideas ??? cheers

sorry to hear it next time use 2 smaller heaters so if one goes down you have a back up till you can sort it :good:

The dwarf gourmi would be a good idea i love mine also a fighter would be good but everyone i know including me have them die after a short while mine lasted 4-5 weeks :unsure: i also love my german blue rams they have only just started to come out today after a tank make over :good:

yep they sure do so do rabbits, dogs,cats, horses i could go on but with breeding they become used to it as they know nothing else but im not going to eat a dog or a cat WOULD you ????
