Hey everyone, I currently have a 28 gallon tank with 2 guppies, female just had babies, 2 platys, and 2 mollies. I'm wanting to get either 3 or 4 Cory catfish, or 1 or 2 Clown loaches. Which do you think would be better for my tank and why? Will clown loaches eat guppies or mollies? Thanks!

defo the cories, clown loach grow to 12' and prefer to live in groups, whereas the cories are best suited to your tank size :good:

no brainer, go with the cories. Clown loaches are way too big when full grown, or even 1/2 grown.

Clown loaches may eat fry, I've heard they won't and they will. -_-

If you keep the Cories get a group of 6 minimum.

I'm going to Petsmart Friday to pick up some Cory's. Does anyone know how much they usually are? I was gonna pick up 3 and get 3 more the next week. Will 6 be too many in my tank?

OK, just got back from Petsmart. I got a big piece of wood and 2 more large plants for my tank when I get home. They actually had the Peppered Cory's.........$4.39 a piece. I think I will get 4 of them this week, and maybe 2 more next week.

They also have the emeralds, so would 4 Peppers and 4 Emeralds be good?

With the guppies, 2 mollies, and 2 platy's, will 8 corys be too many in a 28 gallon tank? Thanks!

Depends on the species and where you live, I live in Canada and the peppered there are $4.09 each... pandas are lik $9, albinos are like $5...

btw, about how long do Pepper Cory's live? Do you like the Peppers or the Emeralds(not sure on the name) better?

I love peppers, they look nice. Theyre my favorite fish in our bigger tank downstairs, so nice and interesting to watch them. So good that i couldnt resist the temptation to buy some little ones for my small tank in my room.

Cories anyday mate.

Im researching on sites myself as id quite like to know how long they live for. One site just states "years" lol. Another says potentially 10-15 years. Another site says 3-5 years. Another says 3 years.

So im going to assume its around 3 years at least and upto 15 years if lucky.

The longest I ever had a cory cat for was 6 years... Not 100% sure how long they live for exactly... My guess, between 5-10years...

I have 6 peppered corys in my tank and at times they are great to watch they go around maybe 4-5 and ride in the pressure from my filter its great to watch :good:

id go with that also i have two corys that are just over 7 years old but they are still going nuts in the tank with the rest of them
(sterbai corys btw)

Corys are very cool when kept together but be sure to get some catfish pellets and 8 should be fine with the size tank and the other fish. i have heard they live anywhere from 5 years to 17 years so somewhere in the middle i suspect.
