    Feeding

IIRC it is not a good idea to feed fish land based veg - or anything else not specifically designed for marine animals or found naturally I will see if I can find the article I read but it was a while ago

    A Few Questions About My Tank {new Picture Of Mystery Fish}

I'd be more concerned by the Anemmone, do you have any experience with looking after them What type of Nem is it ?

    Live Rock (again)

Run your skimmer 24/7 Test for Ammonia & Nitrites You will get a spike then a drop off When those readings are 0 your tank is ready to be slowly stocked (as long as you other readings are in line) :good:

    Summers Come Too Soon

Why not add a 4" PC fan (or 2) into the hood blowing on to the wtare or 2 fans on to the side (if there is a wooden/plastic skirt around the top of the tank) This is how I run my 5' F/O System that has a hood

    Summers Come Too Soon

Dependant on how hot the summers are, I tend to run reverse lighting ie Actinics on at 11.00pm then the main Haildes on after midnight - run overnight until 7AM This will help keep the tank cool as your home will generally be cooler overnight. I do this on my Frag tank as it is cheaper to run...

    Too Much Live Rock?

Cant disagree more Ski Its only to much when you flow is restricted to the point that your liverock doesnt get enought & constant water flow thereby the bacterial process is hampered So to much live rock is as much a problem as to little

    Need Advice

Phosban will reduuce the Phosphates in the tank, which will hopefully starve the Algea of food I have given you the facts on the lighting & the Tang, these are the truth as I have known & done for many years, if you wnat to take the advice great :good: PS you Tang is a Zebrasoma scopas...

Oh No - Another Clueless Fool

TBH in that size of tank I wouldnt bother with poweheads, even the more powerfull ones But I would look in to Sequence Pumps  - (AKA The Mutts Nuts, Dachhounds Danglees, The Wasps Nipple) As for the liverock - have a look on that link I pm'd you - there is a Reefers Sales Forum on...

Yellow Tang Missing Chunks Of It's Body

Personally I would trust most LFS as far as I could throw them Mostly only see $$££$$ Independant reasearch is the answer

Yellow Tang Missing Chunks Of It's Body

It is normal for certain species of fish to 'host' in Nems You will really need to reasearch the feeding habits & requirements on this Nems ASAP, realistacally that should have been done long before buying it IIRC Cony Nems do require HO Lighting likes of Metal Halides ...

    Need Advice

T5's wont cut it for the Nem's IMO, I would strongly suggest selling these to your Local Marine Shop or an experienced reefer, as they are very difficult to care for & if they do end up dying in your tank they can/will cause a wipeout of your livestock As for the tang, can you get a pic of it...

Setting Up My First Ever Saltwater Tank...

You can add you rock little by little - just remember you will get mini spikes in your ammonian/nitrite readings I see no point 'Adding fish to make sure the water is OK' - this will make to i=mpact on the water whatsoever

    Unsettled Anemone

No, but common scence will tell you it could mean a horrible death to the animal if it were to get caught ion the intake LOW OUTPUT LIGHTING NO but it would have been a massive fluck if the foot was damaged by bagging tbh The most common damage is a simple tear, twists etc. usually arnt...

    Need Advice

I would be very concerned regarding the wellbeing of the anemonnes in your tank tbh Your lighting is no where near suitabel to keep them healthy Have a read of this thread http://www.fishforums.net/A-Short-Anemone-...rs-t160869.html Also I a 150 ltre tank is also way to small for any Tang

    Heaters?

If there is no LED or the LED is inactive I would fill a bucket of cold water & add the heater, see if the temop changes (remember to let the heater cool before adding the the cold water) What size of tank do you have, as most tanks will keep there temp for a good 5 - 6 hours
  22. C

Yellow Tang Missing Chunks Of It's Body

TBH mate I would also be concerned about the Bleached Anemonne - that is not a healthy sign On to the Tang, do you have a sump or a Hospital Tank to rehouse the tang, I would definatly get rid of the Damsel if ghe is harrassing the Tang Has the Tang had any illness's etc recently ? PS what...

    Got Some Kit

Also if it were me I would replace the 2 x Seio M820 with 2 x Seio M1100 as this will give you a slightly higher turnover :good:
  24. C

    Got Some Kit

Your tank would be much better of with a Rowa-Reactor This will keep your Rowa moving at all times rather than in an external or a Skimemr where it may/will become compacted If you loosing the Nut on top of the Seio this will allow you to aim the pump at the surface, this will give you...

Setting Up My First Ever Saltwater Tank...

The easiest way to acclimitize livestock is the drip method Instead of me listing the ways & do's - have a look on Live Aquaria, I am sure there is a Step by Step guide there Do not add any LFS water to your tank as the reading will differ, also I acclimitize all my livestock - Inverts...

    Unsettled Anemone

If you knew all the info already then why introduce an Anemmone to a tank that has Internal Powerheads that WILL mince it & LO lighting - insufficient to keep the Anemonne healthy If the foot was damaged by the LFS, then why buy it, surely a quick check of the aniaml itself would have shown...

    Ocean-rock And Live-rock

IMO not worth the money, it is just so dense & it displaces a lot more water than other far more porus rocks, the fact that it is far more dense will also mean that instead of your LR crawling with bacteria it will more likely only have a coating on the surface - just not worth it |If you are...

    Unsettled Anemone

Maybe some reasearch BEFORE buying an anemmone would have saved the 1st from dying & the 2nd from the stressfull life it is having Internal Pumps will kill wondering Anemones insufficient lighting will also starve the Anemone Insufficient knowledge will kill your Anemone...

    Announcement Section?

I am also with Andy on this I see no need for a Members Announcement board - which will quickly turn in to a GC forum If (for example) someone wants to show off there new sprogg, then put a pic in the Non-Fish Photo Forum, Ok this wouldnt work for all announcements but the rule is NO GC, I...

How To Get A Dog To Put On Weight

IMO if you are concerned about him, a visit to the vet will help We took our Puppy to the vet as we thought he was losing weight but after he was weighed examinedthe vet said his weight was spot on and added "you should be able to feel the ribs but NOT see them" We feed ours on a mixture of...

    40 Gallon Tank Stock

I am not completely convinced of this tbh, I would say that Clowns are better off with some form of host be it an Anemone or a Coral But in saying that I would not advocate getting an Anemone for a new setup, maybe soem sort of Soft coral This is based on no scientific evidence but more...
