I have 2 black plastic heaters the kind where the cord can go underwater. We just noticed that one of the heaters has white calcium all over it and the other is perfectly clean. There are no lights on these heaters do you think one is not working. My temp did drop 2 degrees. Is there a ways to tell if they are working?

If there is no LED or the LED is inactive I would fill a bucket of cold water & add the heater, see if the temop changes (remember to let the heater cool before adding the the cold water)
What size of tank do you have, as most tanks will keep there temp for a good 5 - 6 hours
