Ok...so I get home today after going to a funeral only to notice that my clownfish is non-existant. For the past day or so I have noticed it swimming vertical alot. I got to looking for it and found it dead in the crack of my live rock....now, I know my hermit crabs will take care of it just as they did the blue green chromis that did the same thing about 2 weeks ago in the same tank. Any explanation of why it died so sudden like that? Now, as for the tang....it's swimming along the live sand at the bottom on it's side and upside down....it looks like it's spazzing in the corner of my tank. I just bought these fish.........what the hell? It's become very jittery and just acting very odd. I've never had these problems before. I just had a water sample tested by the local saltwater store and he said everything is fine. Anything I can do to help my fish? That tang was $20....I'd like to get my money out of that damn fish.

Great attitude towards livestock - you are going to go far
Well, that's not exactly how I meant it  I meant it more like.....I payed that because that's what my little sister wanted me to add to my tank. I don't want it dieing already because then she'd cry. She's only 7 and gets emotionally attached to any living object in this house. I have noticed though that after it's little spaz attack last night, it seems to be doing much better this morning. It's not swimming around looking like it's having a heart attack anymore.

Going by that video I would tell you that the tang is weakening rapidly, from whatever cause, and is close to death. If he has recovered this morning, he may have gained a burst of energy. However, there is a chance that this may wane, ending in the fish's death.

I'm afraid your little sister may have to learn to accept death.

I've kept a close watch on it all day so far and it seems to have improved 110% since last night's spaz attack. I did notice that it didn't really eat the pellets that I was told to feed it nor any of the fish flakes. Well, it ate very little of the fish flakes....I went out and bought some algae strips for it so hopefully it'll eat that. I had another sample of my water taken about an hour ago and the guy told me the tank is cycling again. Is that normal? The tank it's in has been up for almost 2 months now.

Well, if that dead clownfish is still in there, I would take it out. It may be causing ammonia. As for the fish... do you use any chemicals near the tank? Windex, Pledge, air freshener, anything?

I spray my cologne in the same room as my tank...other than that, no. And, how exactly would one pull a dead clown out of a live rock crack? I've tried pulling it out with my fingers and just ended up pushing it further in by accident.

UPDATE: Yellow tang seems to be acting pretty normal now. It ate the whole algae strip already. How often do you restock those things? The package really didn't come with very good instructions.
