Which Cory is best for me?
4 foot tank, currently home to 1 x Firemouth, 1 x RTB, 1 x Pair Bristlenose Plecos.
Hoping to add 8 x Columbian Tetra and 6/8 Corys?
Are any more suitable than others?
Substrate is sand.
Thanks
Gaz

I got myself 10 baby Bristlenose plecos today. 5 brown and 5 Albino, they range from about 0.5cm to 3cm so not expecting them all to survive with other big fish etc. Also the guy gave me 3 assassin snails.
My questions...
At what size will BN plecos pair up? And will they pair with other...
Thanks for the awesome reply Matt.
I've just looked at columbian tetra and they do look awesome in big schoals. Really nice tetras.
Your stocking list looks pretty wicked too.
My Firemouth would have to have a place in there though because he is pretty cool :)
Thanks again
Gaz
Thanks moochy. I will. Check out them catfish. That rusty Pleco is lovely.
Thanks Matt. Out of interest what dither fish would you have a group of in a severum tank?
Again this is nowhere near a complete list, but I'm thinking along the lines of...
1 x Severum
1 x Blue Acara
1 x Electric Blue Jack Dempsey
1 x Firemouth
1 x Salvini
10 x Clown Loach
1 x Pair BN Plecos
1 x Queen Arabesque
Would the loaches and Plecos be safe with the cichlids I've listed...
I do really like the rotkiel so that wouldn't be a problem.
The only other thing I had in mind was swapping Corys for a large shoal of clown loach.
How would these fair with the cichlids?
Thanks Westwood I will bare that in mind 16-20 Corys would look awesome :) :)
Wills - thanks for the informative response. I see what you are saying about spending £600-£800 on a tank setup to put fairly bland species in. However to me, being quite a novice (kept fish for over 10 years but only...
Ive posted a similar thread in the tropical discussion and thought it may be better suited here.
What do people think of this stocking list for a 6' x 2' x 2' tank?
1 x Gold Severum
1 x Blue Acara
1 x Firemouth
1 x RTB Shark
1 x Common Albino Pleco (or a pair of Albino BN Plecos?)
10 x Sterbai...
Would adding a second internal filter (brand new) to an already established tank and filter system cause issues?
Would you start a fresh cycle?
Not sure just curious.
Thanks
Gaz
How big do these get and are they good tank cleaners and algae eaters?
Thinking of a couple of albinos or super red for my 3 foot tank.
Will they get bothered by a Firemouth?
Thanks
Gaz
Okay thanks.
I will look into the tetra/barbs with more detail and see what fits best.
How do clown loach go with large cichlids?
I'm thinking of dropping the Oscar and going with something like...
1 x Gold Severum
1 x Blue Acara
1 x Firemouth
1 x RTB Shark
8 x Clown Loach or 10 x Sterbai...
Funny when people ask for advice and then go all #105###ty when it's not the answer they wanted.
Why ask in the first place if you know best?
2 x Corys together and then Bala Sharks. Lol.
Thanks for all the replies.
I would happily give a nice sailfin Pleco a home as they look awesome when they reach 12" and more.
I like magnum, golden nugget, snowball and queen arabesque! How many realistically could I have in with a common?
By red and white Severum I think I meant "super red...
I'm hoping to set up a 6 foot x 2 foot x 2 foot tank in sort of 12-18 months.
This is my dream tank and I'm looking for loads of stocking ideas.
It will be sand substrate, 2 x External Eheim filters, lots of Bogwood and a few big rocks.
I really haven't got a clue about stocking levels so...
He sounds awesome.
I used media from my dads pond filter to help speed things up and it seems to have worked.
I've had the Guppys and an RTB shark in there for a week now and all is well so far so fingers crossed its settled down.
Just to add - I don't intend to keep the F/ M with the Guppys...
How old is he and how much do you want for him?
I'm close to Leicester but tank is only a few weeks into cycle and just got a few Guppys in at the moment.
Don't wanna put any really decent fish in yet incase I lose them.
Thanks
Gaz
I've heard that F1 Firemouths (presumably closer to wild caught?) are much better coloured than the standard LFS Firemouths?
Does anyone on here breed them or got any photos?
A lot of the ones I see in aquatic places don't look half as nice as some on here and I want a nice one :)
