    help dwarf gormei looking bad

This happened to my dwarf gourami. It started out like a cut on his lip. Then it got worse, and eventually his lip kind of fell off. He was not active, and didn't eat much, but was very bloated. He devolped a welt looking thing on his side, which was exposed flesh I think now. Anyway, he...

Floating plants also provide hiding places for fry and can help to reduce aggression in top dwelling fish.

    Snails over-reproducing

I had a similar problem and here is what I did. First, definately cut back on the food. If they are reproducing at the rate you say, you are overfeeding your fish. I got three cory cats, and mine actually eat quite a few of the egg sacks. Lastly, Every time I see a few on the sides of the...

    Bio Wheel tank

maybe just get a 10 gallon tank and a mini bio wheel and a couple dividers...then you could probably have 3 bettas very comfortably for about the same price...not sure about the water movement though...maybe someone else has a better idea.

    Bio wheel not spinning

Have you changed your charchol filter? Mine stops spinning when my water flow is low due to debris. Keep in mind though that even if the wheel is mot spinning, you are still getting the benefit of the bio filtration...

    What was your first fish?

My first fish (actually two) were goldfish named Harold and Lucille. Theywere fed....nobody yell...instant potato flakes. Yep, that's right. I was six years old. Didn't know a thing, and they lived in a bowl. It was so dirty. I changed the water when it smelled, and didn't remove the...

    Hmmm... Water Change Question

I also don't have a python, but I have heard that people add it before because then the chlorine and stuff is neutralized upon contact. Don't take that as fact, but it does make some sense.... I would also recommend getting a chlorine test of some sort, just to make sure.

Lettuce doesn't do anything except that maybe give the angel that isn't eating something to eat till you get some different food.

Fry dieing - need some advice

I agree with fish killer. Put some floating plants in your tank, and release the fry. They will probably have a better chance of making it then in the breeder net. I have fry live out of every batch, except the last which was premature I think. They are pretty quick, and can hide very well...

    Angelfish dying...

You know, you may want to throw a piece of lettuce in some boiling water just to wilt it and put that in your tank till you can get to the LFS. When you get the bloodworms, try and get the frozen, not freeze dried ones. Good luck and please keep us posted. Erin

    Angelfish dying...

Hi! Do you have test kits? If so, what are your amonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels. As for the food, do you give them the same flake food always? I would suggest that you change the food, and as part of a healty diet, do give treats like bloodworms, brineshrimp, etc. Good luck!

    cool stuff

I personally don't think that there is anything wrong with your picture, in fact, I own several guns myself. Sometimes is seems that in a great topic like this, there is always something being dwelled on. I support the right for people to express their opinions, whether or not the gp agree. I...

Have you run water down? You should remove the plumbing (gooseneck?) from under the sink right away. You may still be able to save him.

    cool stuff

I liked the picture of the guy that must be a camaro owner. Hehehe. I used to own one. As for Silver's comment about being dumb, I think that you guys need to think about the fact that some people aren't comfortable with guns. In her eyes it is dumb to "show off" your gun collection. That...

    3 spots aggressive fish?

I have a very successful and for the most part peaceful gourami tank. I have 3-spots (gold, opaline-what you call cosby, and a platinum), pearls, a moonlight, and a couple of paradise. They have all figured out how to get along. I think that it is pretty dependant on the individual. I have...

    Aggressive Three Spot Gouramis

I recommend that you add a couple of more. Keep in mind that some aggression is normal, but if one is getting bullied a lot, adding more will help. Maybe try a different gourami species like the pearl or moonlight....give you some more variety.

    Ammonia symptoms?

I have heard that bubbles that don't pop on the surface can indicate that there is amonia present in the water. You should really have a test kit, but since you don't you will want to monitor the nitrite level closly. Nitrites are created from the bacteria eating the amonia. The fact that you...

    What type of gouramis

It really depends on how big your tank is and what else is in there. I personally like the moonlight gouramis with the pearls, and my 3 spots get along with them also. I think that dwarfs will get picked on though. I have found that a gourami tank works well if you add a school of something...

    Vacuuming!

Also there are different size gravel vacs. I see one person saying that it takes a long time...I would see if you can find a bigger vac. One person says it is too fast, maybe try a smaller vac. I have a pretty large one for my 29 and a small one for my 10 & 2 gallon betta tank.

  32. M

    would you?

I said yes. A million bucks is a million bucks and my favorite fish cost 3.99 + tax. Now I'm not sure and the reason is that all the medicine and chemicals that I put in my tank say not for use on fish intended for human consumption. So I think maybe the million would be the end of me? What...

    WANTED: YOUR BETTA TO FIGHT

It seems as though the reasons that are being given in favor of betta fighting are to the benefit of the people watching. I would be more inclined to be in favor if it were to benefit the fish in ANY way. Are there any benefits to the fish? :dunno: Oh, I voted no for the reason above.

    Damn those Nitrites

Just keep doing what you're doing. It is a painful process, but it'll happen. Just remember that when the water quality is poor, the fish will be more suseptible to disease, so keep a good eye out for any outbreaks.

my poor doggy has been limpin

I have heard that it is okay, but I would recommend that you contact your vet. Your dog could have an allergic reaction, and even if not, it's good to get a professional opinion when medicating....IMO..
