Hi , I am considring getting a tank thats big enough for drwarf ciclids in the future, maybe this Christmas, what would be the minimum tank size you would go for ? Are they better in groups of 3 or 4 or would i be ok with a pair ? The water i have is soft to moderate, Thanks

I do once a week usually a third but sometimes 50 percent, clean the filter in aquarium water in bucket.

Ok thanks, i have seen the guys on MD fish tanks on youtube using api root tabs so assumed they must be good, but i do now wonder if two in a 60 Litre aquarium is too much, i put one either end of the tank in the planted areas, think ill take one out tonight to be on the safe side.

That's very sad news about your fish, did the Root Tabs play a large part of this ? I just added 2 x API Root tabs to my 60L which i am now wondering if i should remove

50-60 years wow thats impressive, would Cories be up to 20 years then or is it another breed of catfish ?

Just interested to know which fish would you expect to have the longest lifespan, obviously there are loads of factors to consider but in the optimum conditions which fish rank best ?

I decided to leave the FF discord chat as there is a number of elements on the natural aquarium i dont really agree with and i am no longer interested in going that route for my tanks.

That's similar with what happened to me on their discords forum, one member told me if continued to question the FF methods i should leave and wouldn't be welcome, another blocked me because i posed a question about Root Tabs for an amazon sword, at that point i never realized how against ferts...

The whole natural aquarium thing threw me a bit when i first started watching his videos as you get the feeling you have been doing it wrong and everything you followed was not how it should be done, I sort of feel different to it now and will continue to follow the guidance on this site and do...

That's good news to hear my water is so favorable for many different fish :)

I believe they do like to be in larger groups, there is also the smaller Pygmy ones but might be best checking with one of the more experienced members on TFF for their suitability.

Thanks for the feedback, is there anything I can do with that water softness ? Of course there will be a wide range of fish I shouldn't keep due to that water softness.

My tap water is listed as moderately soft, would that be similar to rain water ?

Yeh totally different here in Scalloway where i live most nights i leave my house door unlocked same with car unlocked occasionally forget i have left the keys in it, though as we are on an island there is no where for them to go with the cars so stealing cars is non existent, there is crime...

That sounds like a nice balance, I did a digital detox a few years back and had a month without using the internet and it did me a lot of good, went camping for a week of it so away from everything which was nice, might sound a bit strange but I definitely preferred life pre-internet much more...
