I was out shopping for CUC today and a fish caught my eye and was wondering if somebody could ID it for me please :) knowing my luck it will grow about 6 foot long and i wont be able to have it in my tank. Here is a short video .. its the yellow fish with blue markings. Click For Video

Thanks for that Donya :good: clean up crew have finally gone in today so hopefully that will kepp them at bay. The majority i have seen have been smaller worms so hopefully shouldn't get any problems :)

I have seen loads Seffie! what happens if they get big? im sure one is about 6 inches long :blink:

I know these are some type of worm but just after some info on them please and if they are good or bad? I have seen 10+ of them! Some big, some small.

Sounds fantastic!! :look: i can see why you keep them though, some of yours are real stunners. Does anybody on here sell frags of the easy photosynthetic variety?

I think i will stick with photosynthetic for now until my tank is well and truly up and running. I seen some crazy foods on the net people was making to feed there azoox :lol:

Yeah the valve was closed :blush: got it at what i would call the five to twelve position now and the level inside the skimmer has risen and the flow is stronger now :good: There seems to be loads of micro bubbles in everywhere flowing round the tank now .. is that normal at first? Thanks...

Im guessing the guy i got it off was maybe mis-sold it then.. is it a difficult coral to keep Sorgan?

Ended up getting a deltec mce 300 for £50 .. what i nightmare to get it fit but got there in the end. Just wanted to check the flow was right if somebody can take a look at this vid. Seems low but never used a skimmer so could be spot on for all i know :lol: Click For Video

I didnt get them off a seller Lewis, i just got them off somebody who was breaking there tank down. I was buying his skimmer and he mentioned he had some frags i could have for cheap so i took them :) I have been cutting away at my tank etc.. all day to get my new deltec skimmer to fit my...

Got the frags today but they didnt come in a bag and came in a plastic container instead .. i have no way of floating them so had to just add some water into them and then straight into the tank.. they seem to be extremely happy in the tank and have all opened up .. the gay gave me a rock cover...

Afternoon :D i am picking the frags up at 2pm today B-) they will be travelling for around half an hour. Just looking for advise on how best to aclimatise them once i get them home?

I've not seen it yet unfortunately :( its somebody on ebay closing a tank down. I will just have to post a pick once i pick them up and if it is one not suited to a newbie i will pass it onto somebody on here who is local or take it to my local LFS.

All i was told is that it is a Cream Gorgonia. Being new to marine i have started with the basics of levels (ph/amm/nitrite/nitrate) When you say the torch needs mag and calcium is that something naturally in the water through the salt added etc or do you have to dose it?

Thanks James :good: Sorgan did come to mind when making the topic haha. I wasnt going to have many corals to start off with just have some xenia frags at the moment due to being new to the marine world, but £5 for the 3 seems a bargain and even if i am unsuccessful with them i have only lost...

I am buying a skimmer of somebody and have been offered 3 frags for £5 which seems a bargain to me. Just wanted to know if these corals are easy for me to keep in my new tank. Torch Coral Kenya Tree Cream Gorgonia Any advise welcomed :)

I have been looking for a protein skimmer for my 220 litre (50ish gallon) over the last week or two and just cant make my mind up... i have been advised to get a Deltec mce 300 skimmer but after alot of reading i have discovered people have a few problems with them and have to mod them abit to...

Tonight i had big problems with my external filter :-( it started to leak everywhere :S so i have taken it out and now i am keeping away from external filters!! what a nightmare i have had. So basically came on to ask what people suggest i run now. I have 3 powerheads running at over 7000...

I was lucky enough to find somebody round the corner breaking his tank down so water and rock went in at the same time. I have then added a second batch to give me 40kilo of rock now. Once i was happy with my scape things started to get boring though :( ah well patience patience patience...

Ok :good: will take all sponges out now. just want to get some life in there now :( sick of looking at rock for the last 4 weeks or so :sad:

Just tested today after my 50% water change yesterday. The new water seems to have raised my pH to 8.0 so will give it a week to see if it stays stable there. Ammonia is 0 Nitrite is 0 Nitrates seems to have come down but not much :( was hoping for a bigger drop after the water change :(...

50% water change done .. got water from a different LFS and sticking with these now until i can mix my own salt RO. There fish all seem healthy and happy. Just tested there water before putting it in and ph is 8.2 .. and 0 nitrates etc.. If i keep using there water will this help my tank...

Thanks :D been looking at the deltec skimmers so not a bad guess haha. The 600 is a bit pricey for me at the moment so will probably get the 300 for now to get me on my way.

I have been looking into skimmers in the last few days .. is there any you can suggest for my 50 gallon which dont cost the earth? sorry for all the questions :blink:

Ok will do a 50% water change today :D The redsea system you mention i can only find an no3/Po4 system not no4 system? If i was to invest in a phosphate and nitrate reactor would i be able to run both in my cabinet going through my external filter i am running?

I have a bottle of the seachams prime but after buying a read that it just masks the nitrates from test kits picking them up rather than removing them. As for mixing mate it's mainly the cost in one lump of getting the salt. Once I'm more stable finance wise I will start to mix my own.

I have been testing for the last week or so now and ammonia has been at 0 for a while with 0 nitrite and a stable ph of 7.8 but my nitrates are quite high at around 40. What would be the best course of action? i was thinking of doing a 50% water change to bring the nitrates down. Also alot...

I will retest tomorrow :) hopefully it is 10 or less. Think the tank is close to being ready for CUC now.

I received my salifert test kits today for ammonia and nitrate. I ordered them because i was struggling to read these two on my API kit. My ammonia was reading somewhere around 0 - 0.25 but wanted to see if it was actually 0 or not. My nitrate was reading at 20. Just done my first tests and...
