Cheers for the responses guys, really hope it is a Rio negro, its still pretty young so maybe that's why it looks similar to a rainbow.

Hi I purchased these as Rio negro chocolate cichlids, Hypselecara coryphaenoides, which are quite rare in the trade. Had them a couple of months now and to me they look like rainbow cichlids, anyone any ideas? Cheers

Iv got same size tank as you, iv got a pair of rotkeil and gold severums, these work really well in a 450l tank, there nice and colourful and peaceful aswell.

Iv had a couple of jewel visions and don't theyre that well built tbh, iv had the brace bars snap and they just don't feel that sturdy to me. A friend of mine has an nd one and the build quality is far superior to the jewel. i'l be going for a custom one next.

Got to agree red line torpedo barbs are no way suitable for a 29g tank, theyre schooling fish and mine grew to roughly 5" each, had them in a 95g but wouldn't put them in anything smaller.

I do 50% weekly on my 500litre. Got it down to 20 mins, used to use buckets which took forever. All i do is long length of plastic hose from tank into garden to drain, then to fill up, piece of garden hose from kitchen sink mixer tap straight into tank. Couldn't be easier.

Yeah the inlet and outlet pipes hang over the back of tank, iv got a 5 foot tank with 2 externals and maintaining it is really easy.

I use seachem prime. I have to take out roughly 140liters each week on my water change. If i left that to stand for 24hrs id hav buckets everywhere lol. As others have said,dechlorinator works straight away. U have nothing to worry about.

Iv got 6 columbian redfin tetras. Had them for about 2 years. Also got lots of corys and iv never seen the tetras go for the corys. They get on really well. Its a good combination in my experience.

Most reliable heaters iv used are the eheim jagers. Always keeps my tank at same temp.

White spots like grains of sand on fins or body. Flashing and flicking from the fish. iv currently got it for the first time ever in 4 years of fishkeeping. Mine seems like a mild case hopefully got it under control. The trick is to catch it early. And treat straight away.

Great filters. I have 2 tetratec ex1200's for my 260l tank. Do a superb job. Maintenance is fairly easy. Pretty much silent once run in. Got mine for £80 each. Think it was warehouse aquatics.

Rotkeils do not get to 12 inch. They max out at 8 inch, in the wild they have been known to reach 9 inches but in the aquarium usually 7-8. I know the guy who has the parents of mine. They are both 7 inch and kept in a 6 foot tank. Red spotted and gold sevs do get larger than the rotkeil roughly...

A rotkeil severum would be fine as a centrepiece fish. Iv got 2 in my 260l tank, had them since babies 2 years ago. amazing fish, they don't get much bigger than 7 inch,really peaceful aswell. as long as you've got good filtration they would be fine in a 4 footer.

Had same problem with mine. Its the hose adaptor unit which fails and leaks down side of cannister. Ring tetratec on 0080076688766, they will send u a new one free of charge, really good customer service. Iv had quite a few spare parts from them in the past and they've been really helpful

Hi, I had two desert gobies a few years ago, absolutley amazing fish,  real characters, they eat pretty much anything u put in the tank, fed mine nls pellets and tetra prima, with the occasional frozen bloodworms, I had a male and female and really wanted them to breed but had no luck, they work...

I didn't think it was a true green terror as these are rare. In the aquarium trade false green terrors are usually called gold saums.but still get labelled as green terrors. Which is what I thought mine was. But never heard of an orange saum. Thought there was just gold or white saums.

rotkeil severums, stunning fish, look more like a marine fish than tropical when fully grown and coloured up.

Mine are only small, bout 3-4”. Also got pink ramshorn snails in and they don't eat those either

Iv got 4 clown loach and loads of mts. Never seen clowns eat any at all. Definately reccomend some mts. They keep everything clean. Substrate, glass etc, u don't really see them much in the day. They burrow under the substrate, then come out when lights go out. Careful not to overfeed tho as...
