i forgot to add ony thing that can contribute to heat is the 3 95 watt vho lights. they are set 18 " above the tank. IMO i dont beleive they really are contributing too much to the problem.

yeah really electrical componets that operate on magnetic induction will last longer if not switched alot. the switching on a coil creates an "inrush" current when switched several times its normal running current :-( . So for short ......it over heats for a split second every time you turn it...

i have one in my tank that hitchiked too. isaw it today for the first time in 8 months. last time i saw it wich was also the only other time i saw it it was just over about 1/8" big. since then i changed my substrate and thought in the change from tank to buckets(Liverock) it dident make it but...

CRAZYELECE you beat me to the punch yeah the 1200 has 65 gal more movement an hour but in the spects it uses over twice the electricity than the 900. 8.5 watts compared to 20 watts.

my old powerheads are marineland 550 ... there like ancient my sister had these years before she gave them 2 me. honestly there like 9 years old. and well there acting up..... i guess theyve been worth every penny.... the reason i want to switch powrehead brands it the penguin only has one...

i have two clowns that died and i beleive this was the reason.... since then i only buy tank bread. all since are still alive. :good: the wild ones i bought died in under a month. :no: :no:

heres a pic of both of my clowns. im sure the one on the right is an ocellaris. i bought them both under the idea they were ocellaris. i got the one in question first when it was extreamly small like 1/2". couldent tell then but as it grew its bars seemed noticibly thicker and dorsal fin...

mine sleep near the surface of the water sideways .... its neat but my two clowns sleep on opposite sides of the tank

ok is this clown a percula or ocellaris?? i bought her when she was really small now aprox 1 3/4" IMO shes got a little of both? hybird maybe??? give me your opinion
