Would This Work Out Okay?

To be honest, id forget about decor, other than a possable piece of real wood for one of the corners. You could maybe get a large ammount of java fern and attach that to the wood, to give the tank some decor, but you really dont want anything in the tank, as 6x2x2 really isnt very wide...
Forget the slate, thats a defineate no, because it has very sharp edges. I dont know what lace rock is, but if its sharp, then you cant have it
Also, small rocks will get moved arround the tank alot, and could end up smashing the glass which is obvuously not good...Id just stick to a bare tank personally, let the fish be the decor

Mikey

Okay thanks. Alright I will put the largest piece of wood I have in the corner and attach some java fern to it. I think maybe what I have isn't slate then because it is really more round then pointy. the rock I'm talking about is purple, has round edges and the largest piece I have is about the size of a dinner plate. I definetly wont use small rocks then because I don't want the tank to crak! :S  Thanks a lot!

mike is right dont clutter up the bottom to much your ray or rays will appreciate as much open floor space as you can give them
i would just go with the plain background the sand and maybe the pieces of wood

Okay thanks. I'll go with just the largest piece of wood because it will allow the ray/s to swim under it. It also is more really looking. ABout the java fern, how hard is it to grow that and do you think I have good enough lighting?

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I have a few airstones and those bubble wall things too. I also have a timer for the lights.

i found plants pretty much impossible to keep with rays they will uproot them and if you get them attached to wood they will constantly glide over them and destroy them in the end making a mess in your tank.you dont want bits of dead plants ruining your water quality.you can try like i did but i found it a losing battle.you will also need to weight down any bubble curtains or airstones maybe put the underneath your pieces of wood to stop the rays digging them up

Okay thanks. looks like no java fern. As for the bubble curtains, like you suggested I will weigh them down using the big piece of wood. I also have suction cups that I could possibly somehow attach to the bubble curtains to suction cup them to the back of the tank. Which side of the background do you think I should use black or blue? Thanks for all of the help.

you may have more luck with plants than me i dont know
i think the blue will look nice with the sand but try both and see what you prefer :D

Okay thanks. I don't think I will try plants though because if they are to be destroyed I'd rather spend my money on something else that I know will go to good use, like food or something. I will try both sides of the background but I'm leaning towards blue to make the ray stick out more. What do you guys think of my filtration, heating exc. and the marbled tile idea? Thanks for all the help.

how powerful are those fluval 405s?
2 x 300 watt heaters will be fine just make sure you have gaurds on them.
i dont quite understand what is broken on your tank is it the brace around the bottom?
you do know that it is only scobina rays that can be kept in a 6x2x2 for life :good:

1 fluval 405 is capable of filtering a tank up to 100 gallons, so with both of them they can filter a tank up to 200 gallons. I will make sure i have guards on both heaters. For a heater guard I'm going to place the heater in a PVC pipe and glue a small piece of screen to both the top and bottom of the PVC pipe with aquarium safe glue (I will make sure to leave a hole in the top screen big enough to fit the heater in!). I will then decorate the PVC pipe with the river rocks that I have by gluing them on to the PVC pipe and again using fish safe glue. What is broken on the tank is do you know the frame around both the top and bottom that is usually black or fake wood? Heres a link to a tank with what I'm talking about:

See in that tank on both the top and bottom there's a black plastic thing? That is what is broken on my tank. And yes, I do know that only scobina rays can be kept in a tank that is 6x2x2 for life. I will be upgrading to a larger tank when needed.

if you want my truthfull opinion on the tile idear i think it would look crap

just take off the broken bit on the tank and go to a DIY store and get a new wood edge or black which ever color you tank base it

if you dad is a carpenter then just tell him to get some door or work top edge you can get it anywere it will cost you $10 max

the tiles will look crap like extrame make overs

Okay thanks for your opinion. What we are now thinking of doing is like you said going to a DIY shop and replacing it. We are going to stain the stand and trim white though so that it matches the room we are putting it in more.
