Well what I was planning on doing was emtying the water out of my 3 55 gallons into the big tank. My 55 gallons have been up and running for a litttle over 3 years. I am going to get some cycled media from a tank from the lfs to jump start my filter. I hope this will kind of make my tank mature fast. I will still do a normal cycling process, this is just to make the tank mature.

personally i would not have convicts or a plec in my ray tank, convicts are to small and will probably be eaten and they can be very aggresive when breeding and plecs are too messy and can suck on the rays.
i know nothing about the other fish you mention

Well there's only 1 convict and I defenitely don't want the pleco to suck on my ray so I guess no to both. Today I was looking at the picture forum on here and I think I'm going to go with black sand, it looks really nice. I don't think I mentioned it anywhere but the tank's a bow front!

black sand can look very nice i have it in my piranha tank
it brings out the colours on the red bellies nicely

Okay I went to the new lfs and purchased black gravel, not sand because sand sticks to rays. I also bought 2 fluval 405s and several decorations. The gentleman who was helping me threw in A Lot of free small river rocks/pebbles and decorations! I think I will go here more offen! The only bad thing is that when we were moving the tank the bottom fake wood piece cracked! :grr: Does anybody know where we can get a replacement one? The tank is made by all glass aquarium. Thanks!

i hope you got a smooth fine gravel as rays undersides are sensative and will get scratched up with the normal type gravel people use :good:

sounding good so far and by the bottom fake wood bit do you mean the wood that goes round the bottom of the tank for decoration?

Yes, thats what I mean.

yes, I did get a smooth, fine gravel.

I forgot ot mention that I also bought a timer to turn the lights on and off at certain times.

Okay we called the all glass aquarium 1 800 number and they can't send the bottom piece to us so we have a better idea. My dad's a carpender and has TONS of extra marble tiles lying around that I really like, they are white marbled tiles. We are going to cut them into small squares and glue them along the tank's oak trim and then grout them into place. Then we are going to cover the stand in the same marbled tiles, except not cut into little squares. Then we will grout them into place. Here is all the equitment that I have so far:

-180 gallon bow front tank, soon to have a marbled tile trim
-now wooden stand that is soon to be covered in marbled tiles
-2 glass covers
-for lighting we got 2 bulbs that are about 6 feet, a blue and a red one that are supposed to be for plants
-2 fluval 405's
-2 Rena Cal 300 watt heaters that have the dial on top so that you can set the temp.
-as for substrate I changed back to sand because with the black gravel you woulden't be able to see the ray well

Let me know what you guys think about this

-for decorations I have:
-a 2 sided blue + black background
-lots of lace rock
-lots of purple slate rock
-a real looking anchor
-2 large pieces of wood
-TONS of small pieces of river rock
-a fake skull
-3 fake rock formations
-1 large granite rock
-Some like blue/green crystal like rocks that I don't know what they are
-blue, white, green marbles that I wont use

If anybody can help with the decorating that would be great! A lot of that stuff I probably wont use, but it just gives you an idea of what I have to work with. Thanks for all the help so far.

To be honest, id forget about decor, other than a possable piece of real wood for one of the corners. You could maybe get a large ammount of java fern and attach that to the wood, to give the tank some decor, but you really dont want anything in the tank, as 6x2x2 really isnt very wide...
Forget the slate, thats a defineate no, because it has very sharp edges. I dont know what lace rock is, but if its sharp, then you cant have it
Also, small rocks will get moved arround the tank alot, and could end up smashing the glass which is obvuously not good...Id just stick to a bare tank personally, let the fish be the decor
