Why Are The 'clubs' Being Closed?

I'm not attempting to troll it's just that zoddyzod seemed to have a...problem with what I was saying, and I was wandering what the problem was.

People should remember, as with most if not all forums, the mods do this on their own time with no pay and now obviously no thanx...I recently turned down mod duties on another marine forum for this very reason...it's a thankless task and stops you enjoying a forum or even your hobby !!
Think about it folks...there would be no forum without these guys and girls and we should all appreciate their time and efforts !!!!

can we stop being petty?
and arguing, its not about that, and im sure if we wanted to keep the clubs open, arguing wont help anything.
lets just be honest and see where we go from there

My point is that this forum is generously provided to us by those that run it. We pay NOTHING towards it. If the owners/mods decide that something shouldn't be included.....then fair play, frankly.

with clubs though its not just about finding information, its the general chitchat over that particular fish too! people are more likely to post about their oscars antics in the oscar club, than make a new thread about it in 'new worlds' which would then probably get closed or moved elsewhere as it was just chit chat! id hardly make a post to say 'my oscar scared the sheet outta me this morning i thought he was dead, he was infact just sulking cause he saw me eating a hotdog and i didnt offer him any!

No Splishkey, this isn't the case. As long as a topic is about fish, and remains that way, we are more than happy to have it. TFF is a family oriented and friendly forum. We are open to all kinds of fish talk as long as it is within our General Rules. If you doubt this, check out the betta section. We are not like some forums where only serious and/or technical threads are seen as being of merit. We actually want our members to enjoy posting here.

One thing I am concerned about is that the "clubs" will give new members or guests the impression that there are cliques in the forum. Some people are shy and might be hesitant about trying to break into an established group. Whether or not this is the reality of the situation, if folks don't stay around long enough to find that out, it doesn't help either them or the forum as a whole. Do you see what I mean?

but all people are different,
if i was to come onto this site, with a problem with my oscar or pleco, and i saw that there was seperate sub categorys and clubs for that particular species, they would be the people i would rather ask information from.

If you've got a question about a particular fish... Make a thread in the appropriate forum.

If you've got information to share about a particular fish... Add it to the profile.

If you have photos of a particular fish... There is a photo section for you to do so.

Surely that's problem over with and case closed?

Must be something in the air I guess as these mini revolts against the admin and mods is happening on fish forums all over at the minute....as stated on one i'm on.."if not happy with how this is being run, why not start your own forum and run it to see how it feels when the members turn on you after all your time and effort to organise it !!"
Think about it..they put a lot of effort in here and this is the thanx they get when everyone doesn't get their own way to do as they please.That's life i'm affraid be it at home, at work or at school...those in charge pull the strings and we have to accept it or move on...................

fine so rather than cause all of this tension cant the just make a decision now and just close the case all together?
they obviousley have an understanding now, so rather than cause themselves and everyone else added stress, just make a decision.

we all appreciate what the owners and mods do for this website, i think for alot of us nearly all of our information came from somebody within this website,
and i personaly would love to give a great big THANKYOU to everybody who keeps this site up and running

Then people would argue they should have thought it over.The mods posted saying they were discussing it, imo showing that they we're/are coming to a thought out decision on it.
