When Did This Forum Become A Porn Forum?

Unfortunatley this is just a typical example of the world nowadays. Lets face it. Its sex. Woo Hoo. Get over it. But I have a feeling these people wont, and my computer will continue to fill up with porn pop-ups daily, as will everyone elses.

(Just another point- anyone seen the sex education show on channel 4? It was about 10 past 8 Tues night, flicked the tv on with my 2 year old in the room and a massive close up of a penis filled my screen! Now I know its educational but before the watershed? I had to laugh at that one!!)

Lol BecciMac1987 i am sure there may have been some complaints made.
The fact that sites are around for peeps whom like that sort of thing to goto but to be exposed to it by idiots unwillingly is crazy. My daughter the other day shes only 7 typed in girls games in the browser and when she clicked on a link that came up she was exposed to explicite pictures she was actually looking for a site called girls go games a kids game site but got more than she bargained for she was in tears thought she was going to get into trouble. But its so hard these days to avoid it i have filter so certain words contained within a link like sex, xxx etc typed in wont allow you to access but unfortunatly that doesnt solve the problem of my kids being exposed to it .
I agree with most tho that maybe the first few posts by newbies should be checked before being published but that would also cause problems such as tying up mods time and newbies whom need help urgently may not get the help they need if their post is delayed in being displayed.

Desperate peeps but thats my opinion i personally find porn sickening i have a 4 kids so no lack of sex here i prefere the practical aspect rather than the viewing lol

There has been quite a lot of that lately. But as people said not much can be done about it, expect reporting it to the mods. If we placed restrictions on pics and links it would be quite hard for this forum to work the way it does.

BTW, did anyone see the post in the welcome section that was advertising shoes awhile back. Talk about target advertising !

Trying to do our best at the moment with the influx of this type of spam, currently looking at ways to eradicate it completely. Dont know the reason for the current spate, but rest assured we are looking into it and are on the case. Pleas report at the earliest possible moment please so as we can amass an information base and look for a common link.

Unfortuately, there is nothing we can do until someone PMs us with the offending post or thread. Certain words are banned and can't be used but that doesn't have much effect here unless one of them is in the link they give. We have spammers all the time but, in my time as a mod, this is the first time we've had porn spammers. All spammers create an account, post their links and move on. When they're reported, we remove them and disable their posting ability but that is a mute point as they have already moved on to the next site. Just keep reporting them and we will clean them up as quickly as possible.

I'd just like to say that the mods must be amazing - I've never seen any gross images and had no idea such problems existed until just now.
I was just now on the thread of a 12-year-old-girl, wandered off for a bit to find viagra advertising right on her thread, and there were already people on getting things sorted out, which is very impressive.
I'm afraid life's getting rather bizarre, but the people here, mods and others, are certainly coping remarkably well, and I'm impressed.

Unfortunately at the moment there is not much that can be done about it (most of the normal forum security and verification systems can now be beaten). The only thing that might slow them down is to change the permissions for posting images (and/or links). Make it so you have to have say 20-30 posts before you can use images or links. Also banning the IP address of the computers posting them might help but I guess its probably done from a dynamic IP so that wont help much.

Annoyingly it probably isnt even a person that is doing the posting, its just a bot program that is doing it. Given the amount of posts on this and other boards it may even be a virus of some sort that is using innocent peoples PC's to do this stuff from. Not sure what version of IPB this board is running but might be worth checking to see if there are any new updates or mods for it.
