What are you doing today?

Yesterday was a complete day of relaxation. We skipped church and took a long ride around the girth of the Sacandaga Lake, (Linda bought a couple of items for her Christmas collection at an antique shop). We then proceeded to Lake George and strolled the Adirondack Nationals Car Rallye, (some amazing vintage and antique cars buzzing about). Lunch at he Fort overlooking the lake. A game of mini golf followed by a drive to Ticonderoga and an ice cream in Addison Vermont. Home at about 5 PM and some chicken wings at the pond.

Also watched a bit of the night football game.

We are both rejuvenated and ready for a day of light work around the yard today.

My new complete filter replacement set for my R/O unit came Friday so today I do that . Membrane gets changed after a year of use , sediment pre-filter , charcoal pre-filters (2) and the charcoal post filter . It’s still pumping out water at 5 PPM TDS but I stay on top of this .

5 ppm without DI cartridge... It's excellent ! I would run that another year for sure.

We had R/O at our former place for around five years, and I don't think we ever once changed the membrane. I guess we got lucky.

I slept rather poorly last night--a lot on my mind--but I'm up drinking tea and getting my head on straight for a day of teaching little kids about music.

I’ve had different experiences with R/O membranes . Sometimes they go forever but then they die all at once . It seems to have to do with your source water . Here in Billings Montana USA we get our water from the Yellowstone River which is fed by mountain snowmelt . Billings water is very good from what I read on the City’s website . The city uses chlorine only and not much . I change my sediment and carbon pre-filters regularly every 90 days and that keeps the chlorine from damaging the membrane . We’ve had high flows in the river the last two years but in late fall and through winter the river drops and natural TDS rises . That makes the membrane work harder . As good as my system is working right now it could all change overnight and I take precautions against that . Sixty bucks for the complete filter package is reasonable for the good water I make .

I'll be going to a Provincial Park, taking a visitor to see a waterfall, a salmon river and some rocky beaches with a couple of short hikes. I'm hoping there are no cruise ship tours there, but there's room if they are there, and they only have time to explore the easiest to get to spots. It's only a 30 minute drive away, so it should be good. It's a beautiful, sunny cool day.

We'll go after lunch. In the meantime, I'll have about half an hour to feed fish and see what's what in the fishroom. I'm not sure what the fish are going to do today, but it might be interesting.

Just out of curiosity, what's the TDS of your source in general ?

Do you calculate how much water you get from the setup ? (Theoretical / Reality) My setup should provide 1600 gallons before maintenance, so that is 100 runs of my 16 gallons holding tank.

I installed a two port in line real time TDS meter to monitor the water and the next months should reveal the true performance of the kit.

I just now checked the tap water . It’s running at 172 PPM TDS today . In June , during spring runoff , I’ve had it come out of the faucet at 65 PPM TDS . It will go higher through March before it starts coming back down . My sediment filter was really grungy this time . We recently had a water line break in the neighborhood and we have old iron pipes so I suspect rust broke loose .

Thanks.

Atm My water is running 200 ppm out the tap. But if I don't rinse the pipes before starting a run, it can go up to 500 for a while. I let water go down the drain 1 minute before plugin in the RO / DI it helps a lot saving the sediment cartridge and have 8 ppm out the membrane and 0 out the DI.

For the price these inline tester are, I might get another one for Christmas and have a reading at each steps of the process. And be able to replace individual cans only when depleted.

Don't drink RO / DI water it's not good for human consumption. even poisonous.
I read that R/O and distilled water is the best thing for humans to drink . I can’t explain the science but it’s something to do with the cells and how they take in water . Hard water gives you mineral deposits in your joints and stiffens you up too . Read the Paul and Patricia Bragg book “ Water - The Shocking Truth “ . Anyway , I drink a gallon of R/O water every day and I feel good . Been doing that for years .

If your fish can live in your direct tap water... I would drink that.
they can't. I added too much to my pond yesterday, didn't kill them all but I killed 3. I didn't add a lot of water but apparently too much chlorine not to neutralize it. People came over while I was filling. I turned hose off but I didn't add dechlorinator

I concur, It's true that you can drink RO water without harm, You need serious bacterial control on your system.

But the mineral levels in the water are not what is causing joint problems in general.. They even help with metabolism and bones development.

Most type of Arthritis are caused by uric acid crystals forming in the joints, Why this occurs... Not enough minerals in drinking water, and a good part of genetic luggage.

What makes a human, a Human...
