I technically know how to shift a motorcycle. Been almost 50 years since I drove one myself, but even without the heat, in Dallas Fort Worth, it's dangerous enough in a solid metal pickup. And yes the humidity today is horrible, it got to 104 in Fort Worth and the Temperature Humidity index was probably 112. Central Air is supposed to be installed saturday. I can't get the living room below 84 right now on a large portable ac, but with the fan from my window unit bedroom I can house humidity down to about 55%. On the portable alone it was 77% humidity in the living room when I got home from pond service calls.

Sigh, I remember an overpass in Ft Worth that had 'rain grooves' cut in the concrete. Hated that overpass as the grooves would seem to try to steer the cycle. Hated that thing with a passion!

I love the Ghibli movies I've seen. The animation and the whimsical world view make them great. To me, they're kids' movies, but with such superior animation I enjoy them. My daughters were really into them, and those films are a big part of the background of a wonderful period in my life.

This is the last day with our grandkids. I am preparing a Sabbath dinner for all of us. Tomorrow morning we depart early for Maryland. I hope my fish, shrimp, frogs and crayfish faired well over the last 8 days. I am certain they are quite hungry.

Opened up a package today. I've ordered a small sculpture of a koi on a stand. When I opened up the package, I only got the stand and not the fish. The bag in the package was torn. The package itself was sealed perfectly. I've tried to contact the online shop but no reply yet.

Finished moving apartments in the last couple of days. Need to unload 3 tanks I won't be using (10g, 15g and 55g). Moving these 2 tanks was a big task but thankfully I had my son help with this. Leaving a basement apartment with so much crap has reminded me that less is more.

Having major surgery on house and truck. House getting new inside and outside units for hvac. Truck got a new rack and pinion and 2 new outer tie rod ends. Local alignment shop getting a one star for failing to tighten rack and pinion after aligning and overfilling power steering fluid. Had the adventure of a lifetime driving this thursday. should be all better. My helper putting parts on and I'll go to a different alignment shop monday. What am I doing? I put one pond back together and I'm paying the bills.

Been a bit interesting... I've been doing a little research for the best locks for my new electric trike. Learning some things that I had never considered. For instance a chain link lock is better than a braided cable as the chain takes two cuts while the cable only takes one. Also it seems to be that you should have more than just one lock. And the type of lock is important in more than just chain versus cable.

Actually theft of these things are a pretty big business. I can probably have less concern being in a small town but the theft of these things is rampant in larger cities such as Chicago and warm southern states. Even being in a small town does not mean that the trike won't need protection as anywhere that has people is likely to have a thief. A small town just means that the number is likely lower. Shoot, it is known that thieves on these things actually carry battery powered angle grinders to cut through locks.

I will probably go with a U-Lock to bind a rear wheel to the frame and a pretty heavy chain lock. Not sure if I'll buy an actual bike chain lock or make my own by going to Home Depot and getting some fairly heavy chain and a Master Lock. If I do it myself I'd also get some soft plastic tubing to run the chain through to protect the bike frame from getting damaged by a naked chain.

Bottom line is that there is not a lock made that a thief can't bust. The real goal is to make take as long as possible. For instance the U-Lock I mentioned would be an alloy steel core with a ceramic outer layer. I don't mean the type of ceramic that ends up as clay pots. This type is actually harder than steel and is, in fact, used in metal cutting industries and is much more harder to get a grinder to go through.
