Today is my birthday . Today I am sixty nine years old . Today I will indulge all my idiosyncrasies , quirks and interests in celebration of all things uniquely me . It is also a day to reflect on the unhappy fact that I have outlived several close friends who didn’t make it to this age . As much as I like being older and retired I do not enjoy seeing old friends and comrades go under the turf and it seems more do with each passing year .

Merry Christmas to everyone. I have found it is best to wish for what I already have. I'm relatively healthy again, most family members are too, houseful of healthy despite some being seniors dogs cats and fish. And a bunny.... My home which I can afford, 2 trucks that are paid for, and it rained. I am very grateful for rain. I can't think of anything to ask Santa for, and I think that is a good thing.

Once again, a few holes appeared on my Betta's fins. I had to do another partial water change.

I am trying to do genealogical studies. This month I went to a Mormon church in Mococa because they have relations to Family Search. There was an American in the church who spoke Portuguese and read (probably religious visa). Everything is going right, I intend to go next month to use Family Search's computers and try to discover more about my family.

A Christmas to remember
Back in 1976 Christmas Eve, our Optimist club had a Christmas food and toy big boxes donations to needy families. They had a list and a ton of can goods, turkeys and toys for tots.
My family room was 25x30 feet so the Ladies Auxiliary was used it to assemble all the packages and we had 4 pickup trucks to do all the delivering.
We started early and the thing I noticed while delivering all the goods was that most all that I was involved with had new cars I the driveways and better housing than I had and everyone was dressed very well.
After a whole day and getting dark out all had been delivered but for the pickup truck I was in. Our county had readdressed numbering on the properties and we had a hard time finding the last of them. We were on a gravel road way off the main road and one package left. After driving for 30 minutes back and forth I spotted a lone house with tar paper outside, no car, and smoke coming from a chimney pipe. I told my buddy to stop here. He got mad but I took the two big boxes of goods to the front door and knocked. A little frail young woman answered and I asked if they would accept a Christmas package from our Optimist group and she said Yes!
I carried in the boxes and the place had a dirt floor and one wood picnic table for a kitchen table and a big old couch, no tv or radio. Behind the table were two little children and when they saw the toys peaking from the top of one of the boxes their eyes got huge.
I left there almost in tears and got in the truck and my buddy was still pissed. I’m sure that I was guided to that location by what ever anyone perceives to be a God.


I will never forget that as long as I live.

I enjoyed that @lottabubbles . quiet here today. Fixed the christmas day flat - actually discount tire took the nail out and glued a plug in. I'd aired it up to go to dinner on the 25th, it lost 12 lbs in 2 days. Picked up some denim. Prepared a place for the koi, I have got to clean the koi pond tomorrow, it's been a couple of years and it was so bad the pump was clogging up. I put them on an air pump tuesday. walked the dogs. I do not have an exciting life

Today will be a busy afternoon. Starting out with a birthday lunch for sis at Tomahawk BBQ steakhouse. Then headed to run some errands; getting shrimp at Fish Planet, returning some items at UPS, picking up cat food, some grocery shopping...then crashing at home. Hopefully will be home by 7pm.

Cool! I love Canon! Both my camera and printer are Canon.

Printer: Canon PIXMA TS8220 6 cartridge that matches well with my camera for awesome photo printing.

Camera: Canon EOS Rebel T7 which is another nice camera but probably a level below what you got. If your camera has a flip-up battery/SD card cover on the bottom treat gently as I've had it break off on a Rebel T3. Actually I still have the T3 as a backup camera. And, yes, the battery cover is still broken but the camera still works fine. I just had to sort of 'jimmy' a switch to make the camera 'think' the cover was closed.

With the new camera you will/should have the option to save photos as RAW and/or JPEG. Unless you are REALLY serious about photo control and editing don't bother with the RAW format As the high quality JPEG format is just fine.

What size SD card will you use? I use a high speed 256 GB card. LOL! I'll never take enough shots in one outing to need that much space but my T7 is also a video camera that does nice HD video with stereo sound.

If you will accept advice from one that used to sell photos on-line take a lot of shots of the same subject under different camera settings. I do this when I go out and may end up with 200-300 shots of which I may keep 10-15 at most.

You got yourself a really nice camera, make use of it.

Oh!!!! If you are ever interested in accessories and/or a new lens look at B&H Photo out of New York. They sell new and used with the used having a number system to denote condition. I got my 75-300 MM telephoto through them that was rated as a 9.5 which is the next thing to new. This was a $650.00 USD lens when new but I got for $300.00 USD around 10 years ago and still have no issue.
