What are you doing today?

I sang with little kids today! Then had a good BIble study with the Badgerling and her friend. It would have been a perfect day if only I could have gotten elk hunting involved somehow...

You sing with little kids most days, and when your not singing with them, your singing to wild animals and running away when you piss them off. :)

Today I am catching up on stuff that should have been done yesterday......

I watched alot of HM Queen's funeral yesterday. A very moving...OK yes I admit I cried quite alot....spectacle, something the British seem to do well...ceremonial.

Certain aspects did not escape my notice and they caused a wry smile. Bearing in mind that the entire funeral was planned by Her Majesty down to the last step, there were some very eyebrow raising parts to it all in regard to Harry and Meghan (and their demand for Netflix camera crews to be present at all family meetings)

The uniform question...he stepped away from his family and military service, everyone who steps away from military service also loses the right to wear uniform...so despite the whining, he has no cause to complain there.

The camera positions in both Westminster Abbey and St Georges....very obvious that the large candle and Sir Tim Lawrence (Princess Anne's husband) were stratigically placed in Westminster Abbey to effectively block all camera view of Meghan. The same effect was gained in St Georges but by Her Majesty's coffin after Prince William had essentially swapped positions......William and his family were actually meant to be seated where he allowed Harry and Meghan to sit as per succession, so a clear view of Meghan was obscurred.

The final veiled insult, which neither Harry nor Meghan may have realised at the time.....

The cars as they left St Georges.

The car used to transfer Harry and Meghan away from St Georges was none other than the Rolls Royce Phantom that belonged to Wallis Simpson......history books should not be needed as to who she was or what damage she did to the Royal Family.

It was obvious long before Her Majesty died that Harry and Meghan wanted their film crews to be at every meeting that they had with the Royal Family. Her Majesty forbade it every single time. Netflix had invested alot of money into Harry and Meghan in the hope they would spill all the gossip etc.

Her Majesty was not going to let that happen.

So bless her heart, even after death Her Majesty called all the shots beautifully.

If it wasn't for Wallis Simpsons, Elizabeth wouldn't have become Queen. Wallis Simpson was a divorcee and wanted to marry the King of England (that was a big no no back then). In return he (the King) abdicated the throne so he could marry her, and the King's younger brother got to become the King of England. When he died, Elizabeth took over. We could almost thank Wallis Simpson for getting the first King to abdicate so his brother (Elizabeth's father) could become King.

It might not have been neat and tidy back in the day, but the end result was Queen Elizabeth II, who in my opinion was the best royal ever seen in the last 100 years and possibly the best there has ever been. She was the epitome of how a royal should act, unlike Harry who is at the other end, and Andrew is even lower.

I agree in that without Wallis Simpson we would not have enjoyed such an incredible Monarch like Queen Elizabeth II

However, there is a side to Wallis Simpson & Edward that is alot darker that many have forgotten.

When Edward abdicated in December 1936, he and Wallis went to Germany in February 1937, both were confirmed sympathisers with the regime that ruled Germany at that time. They also financially assisted that regime and that of the Vichy.

For a very long time, especially during WW2, the Royal Family were tainted as a direct result of Edward's behaviour....not just the marriage to a divorcee, which was not legal at the time for the Monarch to do, but that he and Wallis went on to publicly support the very regime who was attacking Great Britain and much of Europe.

The active and public involvement by Wallis and Edward in that regime left a massive stain on the British Royal Family history. Initially it was seen as unfounded accusation and rumour but they themselves actually and openly admitted their support to the regime and with Vichy.

Wallis and Edward were seen as traitors...both to the Royal Family and to Great Britain and Commonwealth

Harry and Meghan are largely seen as the modernised version of traitors to what was Queen and Country, now King and Country in that they have perpetually spread rumour and malice, thrown accusations and insults towards the Royal Family to which, as Her Majesty correctly said was recollections that varied. They have continued to snipe at the Royal Family even after Her Majesty died. And during the services yesterday neither Harry nor Meghan sang God Save The King....something that was picked up on camera more than once. The public...and not just in the UK but across the world...have grown tired of Harry and Meghan, whether it be their constant "woe is me" or the frankly ridiculous claims such as Meghan stating she was told that the people of South Africa danced in the streets like they did when Mandela was freed on the day she married Harry

So the use of Wallis Simpson's car was a very subtle, slightly veiled way of making Her Majesty's true feelings known...something she would never have vocalised as that was not her way of doing things. Actions will always speak louder than words.

I’m never satisfied
Do you find that what you want your aquarium to look like in your mind's eye never quite translates to what it actually ends up looking like?

Mine does it all the time.....I would love that neat, tidy sculptured look.....but always end up with the fish equivalent to a very untidy teenagers bedroom look instead :grr:

Precisely.

I think that with the tank upgrade I'm doing to 40g will left me scape it how I want FINALLY

Buckets of rain today. It's going to be a dull day.

I never plan tanks to be under control. I like the chaos of a good unexpected development. Plants do things, fish do things, algae does things - it isn't a great hobby if you like things under control. You kind of steer things to stick to your vision, but it never works as planned. Usually, it turns out well though, until you change things again and restart the processes.

A lot of my scapes were 10 years old when I broke them down to move, and they had gone through more twists and turns than the royal reality show. I have friends who worked with the Japanese aquascapers who show us the perfect tanks - but they generally tear down that perfection soon after they take photos, because no one can maintain things in such a way. Those aquariums are photographs, and after they're snapped, everything moves. We can make beautiful displays with inanimate things - there was a bar restaurant near one of my houses that had fantastic glassed in miniature worlds, all handcrafted by the owner. I would stop in sometimes just to see what he had added. If they had held water and had even one living thing in them, they would have been different every time I went.

I'm with Gary. I design my tanks to look a certain way, and I'm decent at putting together hard scape, but I also know that nature has her own creative hand. Leave room for nature to do her thing, and you'll be a lot happier. :)
