I haven't looked into flouro at all really... What makes it different from mono?

Its much smoother and it cast further. Doesn't have as much memory as mono either. Its also super clear.

I go all the way down to 1/4. Anything lighter than that is tough. You will get the best performance with heavier lures. 3/8 and up.

I know you said 1/4th and up, but do you think these would work for using headless shrimp on it?

If your postal workers are of the friendly sort it is quite possible they would do it for you. Just make sure to ask when they are not busy.
