What are you doing today?

It's Sunday and it's football playoff season. What do you think I'm doing?

Cleaning tanks, changing water football on in the background. On a break between doing the 75 with a large group of L236 in it and doing the inwall 30 with RB line 236 growing out and then a 29 with few sterbai, a few harlequin rasboras, amano shrimp and assassin snails plus a lot of plants. The refill the large cans with changing water and do the 75 community with even more plants - corys, assoted tetras and some orange fin danios. Plus lots of assassins and amanos.

Sundays are always tank maint. days.

Did some maintenance on the 150 for the first time in several weeks. The dentist office's roof has been leaking, to the point of their having to turn off the power breakers, so I haven't been able to get in there. The fishies were being very photogenic today. See journal link in my sig for details.

Started tearing down the Sumatra tank in hopef of finding new homes for the fishies soon. Discovered, upon cleaning out most of the jungle, that I still have all 10 emerald eye rasboras (I thought I was down to seven), four dwarf rasboras (thought I was down to three), and at least one dwarf kuhli (I thought they had all died). But all the amano shrimp are missing. Planted tanks are so weird.

Started a new bow yesterday, a sinew-backed juniper. Got it roughed out yesterday, and glued on a piece of green ash from the yard for a handle today. Waiting for the glue to cure so I can get back to work on it. Weather is rather dreary again, but good stuff happening.

They only have recorders sometimes. And I teach them how to not squeak. It could be worse.
It could be violins.

I'm watching the start of a really nice little snowstorm. It is predicted to be a blizzard by supper tomorrow, and to be messy. I got all my scheduled water changes done today. I collected up some rocks and moved some things, and figured out how to take my 2 ugliest tanks, and make them look good. That will be tomorrow's project. I'll get out there safe from the storm and have some fun problem solving. I make the problems myself, of course, but the solutions entertain me.

It is possible I'm wasting time, but now that I'm retired, it's my time. I used to waste a lot more time on projects that only made sense to bosses. This is a serious improvement.

Personally I consider Chick-Fil-A a war crime. Went there once and the chicken was bland beyond belief. Never went back.
Chick-Fil-A and me don’t get along. Their grilled chicken is ok, but they’re regular chicken wrecked my stomach on a number of occasions. Idk if it’s the oil they use or what, but it makes me sick every time I’ve gone.

What I'm doing today is breathing a sigh of relief! My Social Security benefits were suspended which is almost 2/3 of my income. Finally got it straightened out after three weeks. Turns out that another person was to be suspended but they transposed 2 numbers on the account and I was the 'lucky' victim. :dunno: I swear that something like this could only happen to me. ;)

Anyway they say that it is all fixed and I don't have to do anything but I won't rest easy until I actually see it which will take 10-15 days.

@jaylach That’s kinda frightening. Social Security and my very small printing pension are my sole source of income in retirement . I’d be out on the street and living at the Rescue Mission if not for Social Security. During most of my working years an IRA was not available to most workers. Later on in the 1990’s they started to appear. Nothing more backward than Montana. My printing pension is due to be insolvent in 2028 but the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation will continue to pay half benefits for my remaining lifetime when that happens. Great huh ? Radical voices in Congress are making rumblings about eliminating Social Security and that’s scary too. That money was paid in by me for 47 years and my employers matched me. The taxpayers don’t have a dog in that fight. I thought my retirement years were going to be golden.
I swear that something like this could only happen to me.

I was concerned but figured that it would end up resolved as there was no reason for the suspension. I would have made it anyway but would have needed to go back to work which could have been an issue as I'm 68. Still just about every other place around here has help wanted signs out. As is I would have made it until at least May or June without working. I always make sure to have enough on the side to last 3 months minimum.

@jaylach I hear you Man. I just turned 67 and going back to work doesn’t appeal to me. Worse come to worse and I would but I have a few physical issues that might not agree with that plan. Everybody up here is hiring too but guys making $25 bucks an hour are struggling to pay rent. Ain’t that something ? That used to be top wages around here.
