Bitter day -- high winds and high 30F, a 30-degree change from yesterday. Slow warming through Sunday though. Spring will be sprung from winters jail eventually.

We took advantage by taking naps, shooting darts (Linda won), a game of three corner billiards, (I won) and playing Scrabble, (Linda won by 3 points). I plan on arm wrestling after dinner to tie the days score. I will insist she use the damaged arm.
Dang! I LOVE darts! Haven't played in years and miss it. Thing is I no longer go to bars so that throwing is out. Live in an apartment and won't put up a board where the 'thumping' would bother neighbors. Years ago I did 2 leagues and three tournaments weekly. Actually got quite good. Often finished Cricket in 4 rounds and, while I never a perfect 301 game of 6 darts I had a few 7 dart games.

LOL! I remember when I moved from Ft. Worth Texas to Jacksonville Beach Florida. First weekend I walked into a bar and they were in the process of taking money for a blind draw tournament so I joined in. The tourney was Cricket, 301 and count up. My team and another were the best and it came down to count up. Count up is just throw and get as many points as you can. Destroyed them. I had a couple of ton 80's and some more double trip 20's. The main thrower from the other pair asked what I was ranked in the town. I said I've been in town 2 days so had no time to get a ranking even if I wanted that which I don't. I just toss darts because I like throwing. He said that he was ranked 3rd in the city and I just kicked him out the door and needed to establish a ranking. I just laughed and asked what authority he had to demand this and walked away. Oddly, after a few more such conflicts we actually became sort of friends.

Today, while I was preparing my pH test of rain water (the result was probably 7.0), I received a call from the University of Alabama. I do not know how they got my phone (probably because I went to the EducationUSA fair in São Paulo last year), but we talked a little, and the person asked why I am interested in Aquaculture (the Truecaller told me that it was a legit caller), although I told that I need to improve my English before applying to the program. However, I contacted the university later the same day, I mentioned this call and the English requirements, and my TOEFL iBT score of 78 is not enough to... 79. I am finding this a little weird.

I am under a poetry book project. When I sent it to a potential publisher, they made a brief analysis of the "work," and I confess that I liked it, despite the fact that I intend to self-publish (it is so expensive to publish with the publisher I mentioned). I had a dream with my great-grandfather, and I am planning a poem about this. Maybe it is better to publish a poetry book in English (with the adaptations, obviously), but I must to know if it is possible to do this living in Brazil.

Today is the final Doctor talk before Linda's new shoulder parts are installed April 30th. The surgeon will discuss what to expect during the surgery and after the surgery. We will bring my retired PT sister-in-law to this meeting. She will handle Linda's PT after surgery.

May 1st, I see the Ortho (?) fella to begin working on my back. The issue with my legs stems from lower back stenosis. He wants to discuss a procedure caused MILD. Weird name for a surgical procedure in my mind. My back problem dates from 1976. Several docs at various times have wanted to do surgery. I have always told them so long as I am mobile there will be no slicing. I am no longer satisfactorily mobile.

I hope things work out well for you and Linda.

One of my fifth grade classes is writing a song about a war between earth and space aliens. They just wrote the following:
We destroyed their systems.
We really won't miss them.

Epic songwriting.
Here is the second stanza offered by AI
We shattered their defenses, Ignoring their pretenses.
Their reign of steel and fire, Consumed by our desire.
The echoes of their thunder, Now ripped and torn asunder.
No monument will stand, In this newly conquered land.
We cleansed the poisoned air, And left their cities bare.
So let the silence bloom, Dispelling all the gloom.

Well, it rhymes a lot...

It's the last time I'm writing to you all....

With this crappy laptop... I when out, and finally got myself a new machine, I'm setting it up now.

It's not that terrifying, but it's still the most expensive they had in store and has a dedicated RX6550. That should cover my frugal needs.

On with decrapifying the Windows 11 installation as soon as it finishes installing updates.

Until we meet again. 🫡

While I was waiting for my data to copy over the new computer, I played a little with Photoshop and made a little backdrop for my new rig :)

Yesterday I took more pictures. My Betta is now resting crooked. Do you realize the end of his backbone? It seems that there is a protuberance. I do not know if anyone knows good bibliographical references about Betta splendens. I would love to know more about the fish I have been maintained for almost two years... (I will try to search for something at Open Library).

This can be caused by a long time vitamin deficiency or fish tuberculosis.
