Tyler's 29Gal. Tank Project!

You know, I never got into Xenia, but yours looks good. :)

Frag time!

I have waited one entire week since a water change, now to test the water!

pH:8.0-8.1
Salinity: 1.026
Temp: 78 F
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 0ppm
Ammonia: 0ppm! YAY

Everything looks great!

Here is my new inhabitant.

Yay!! Looks great. Glad you have a shrimpy again. Even though he's a thief and a scoundrel, I love my shrimpy.

He is still skiddish. Hides a lot, but when there's food out, he is all about showing off his pretty colors.

I have the LFS working on getting me a yellow watchman goby and a pistol shrimp... He was already trying, but said the last batch of pistols he could get were already big shrimp. I want a baby shrimp that wants to pair with my goby. I then hope to get my Royal Gramma a couple weeks later.

I asked the my fish guy my order of fish and he says this:

Pistol / Goby
Royal Gramma
Six Line Wrasse
Black Clowns

Thoughts? He said definitely clowns last.. I checked compatibility and everything looks good for these species of fish.

Also just added 3 new Astreas =) they are great cleaners and tend to not die in my tank. Ceriths for some reason just don't last past 3-5 weeks. My last cerith just died and he was in from the get go last summer. I want more, because they do a great job, just sucks they die. Should I add anything into the tank for them to eat?

My tiger pistol is a horse and he still paired up with my watchman. The watchman should be able to handle him. Just get a bigger one. Pistol shrimp are nearly blind, he'll want to pair up, I should think...

Royal gramma? Are you copying me????

LOLOLOL

As for grammas, get one that's actively feeding and swimming about. Don't get the one that hides in the rock, you'll never see him.

I'd put the wrasse down last, if it were me... Wrasses can be terrors if the tank isn't big enough. But so can clowns. Tough call.

LOL, no not copying, I have had one on my list for a couple months now. I will definitely make sure he/she is eating and active =) thnx for that advice. Ya once he gets in the pistol I will grab one. I would like to put the two in together. I also found out I should put some dry seaweed in the tank at night for the ceriths. I will get some ceriths this week and grab some dried seaweed and trap a couple little pieces in the rocks every few nights =).

Yeah, a lot of people think the CUC are disposable. I love my CUC and I do my best to keep them happy. Seaweed, you say? May give that a try, I got a lot of ceriths and not a lot of algae.

Ya. Here is what I was reading. Third paragraph down. Not enough algae, they should be fed some seaweed.

That being said, testament to how our tanks are if we don't have a lot of algae. Thanks will have a read.

I really do not have any at all... There is a tiny bit growing on the powerheads, but not a lot really. Sometimes my back glass gets a green tint to it, probably algae, but I don't believe extra algae would spike any water params right?

In the planted world, the presence of algae (especially diatoms) is indicative of a tiny spike of ammonia that isn't harmful to livestock but enough to trigger. Undetectable levels for a test kit. I wonder if that's also case for marine systems? The commonly held belief in Marine systems is that it's an excess of Nitrates and phospates. I've got a bunch of crazy ideas now that I'm pretty comfortable in both circles. I'm running my planted tank a lot like a Marine tank now and I also have a Marine tank that I run like a planted tank. Hahahaha.

I am gonna see if they like it. Hopefully so.

I spotted a small anemone in my tank. It has a red base to it and pink/clear arms. Very small. 1/4" or close to 6mm. I will do my best for a picture, just a very awkward place in the tank to get a picture of it.

Oh do take a picture, If I can't id it, I have a friend who's a Marine biologist who'll id it and then get back to me.

This is the best I can come up with. It is very small still like I said.
