Trying To Breed My Cories

thanks Harlequins :)

They're both still in the bottle. There's the broken eggs still in there too - presuming I leave them for them to feed on? I've added a clump of moss aswell.

The only thing I'm not sure of is do they need to swim to the surface for air like the adults? If so I might have to lower the water level in the bottle.

I'll give them some fresh water in the morning - unless you tell me to do it sooner :)

thank you!! I've just gotta keep em alive now

UPDATE:

Both babies are still alive. I've taken some water out of my main tank this morning and put them in there. There's still the java moss in with them and I've just given them a tiny amount of baby food.

Keeping everything crossed for them :)

Congrats

Don't worry, I'd be too

(I was really happy my endlers had babies a few weeks ago, and they're ENDLERS

I'll probably be overrun soon...)
I'd love to have some corry babies myself

(For now however, I'll settle for keeping them (and my other fish and frogs) alive)

Hows they doing? :D

I've just checked on them and they're both alive, hiding happily in the moss. It may be just me but they look a little bigger today :hyper:

I'll be scooping them some fresh water out of the main tank shortly and giving them a couple of baby 'dust' particles!

I'm hoping to go to maidenhead aquatics this afternoon so I'll see if I can get a small bag of sand and a small piece of bogwood maybe for this little tank so when they go in there they have a hidey hole.

Does all that sound okay? This is one big learning curve

Sounds good to me :good:

The daily water change will keep the water good and will promote the growth of the wee fry

I tried to get some Hikari first bites today for them but after 15 minutes standing at the till at maidenhead aquatics in York and all the staff nowhere to be seen I walked out without them.

I couldn't get any aquarium sand anywhere either! Even p@h didn't have any.

I'm tempted to go to Argos tomorrow and get a huge sack of play sand and store what I don't need in the shed.

I did manage to get a small piece of bogwood for 3 quid from my lfs and half a dozen trumpet snails for nothing so at least my searching wasn't totally fruitless :)

Personally i prefer to use tetramin baby to first bites....firstbites do mess up the water quality.

I use argos playsand & find it fab :good: and its cheaper than a small bag of aquarium sand.

Any sign of more eggs yet?

Okay, I'll stick with the tetramin then and pop over to argos tomorrow. The bogwood is soaking in a bucket at the minute.

No sign of anymore eggs yet ... unless they are hiding them
