Trial And Error

Give the glosso another couple of weeks, then hammer it!

It will do this from time to time...in fact mines doing the same at the moment. It will crawl after a good trim, but let it root first. :good:

Brill, thanks. WIll be about 6" tall in a fortnight!

Any other pointers or advice? I'm all ears and have broad shoulders (mainly due to eating cake and biscuits) :hey: :shifty:

I think you have a good hardscape in there, i also think that some of the plants are positioned really well. I do think you could make this into a real winner if you didn't have as much of a mix at the back. Have you seen Andy Harts kitchen tank??

you tank could look as good as this if planted like this at the back.

Yeah it's a brilliant scape. Would love something like that. Which background plant do i go with though? Seems a shame to lose my Sword. :(

My Hydrocotyle and Echinodorus is pearling!! :hyper:

I nearly jizzed in my pants when i saw it! :D

Oh and the star grass is going banana's!! :D

Also, i am feeling that Shrimp are becoming increasingly boring and wanting to replace them with fishies!! :D

Lmao, you kill me man
I guess it's a good thing you didn't go with the rio 180 shrimp tank idea eh?

send me shrimpies!

Do you want them? Might sell them all as bulk? There must be 100-150+

Really like this scape, beautiful.

Thanks Steve. Coming from you that means alot mate! Any thoughts on improvements or alterations?

When it starts to multiply Stu you're welcome to some. There is only 2 stems atm, but it's doubled in size in about a week after being in my other tanks for ages. lol.

sorry, missed this. If this was my layout (you do whatever you want mate), but i would go for more Rotala along the back right, leave the sword if you really want to. Plant the Rotala, then when it starts to go (the one you have is still in it's emmersed form), take the stem down to about 4", this is what will give it's bushy effect.

To replace what Ian? Or do you just mean add more?

And yes i agree, it definately needs pruning. The new growth at the top is perfect where as the growth at the bottom is looking horrible. Should i prune it today or leave it like the glosso?

i'd add another couple of pots. You can do two things with rotala, and thats either cut the tops and re plant, or just chop right down. Some planted tank keepers take them right down to about an inch above the substrate. You can do either or, but chopping will give that bushy effect like Andy has in that kitchen scape.

The only thing I would change in there mate is on the far left and far right add something to to make the drop between tall plants and Glosso a bit less of a huge one, a nice midground plant maybe like some more Blyxa or Hygro compact maybe.
