Total Betta Tank Revamp- Natural Tank

It does look fabulous, Morphkid03, as does Oliver and the gang.
The problem now will be, of course, to drag yourself away from fish watching long enough to do anything else, but I guess that always is the problem, isn't it?

Thanks, haha yeah it's hard to pull myself away!

The aponogeton grew a long stem and is now flowering! :hyper: It must be healthy if that's going on, haha. Decided I still wasn't satisfied and moved stuff around more... probably a bad idea but we'll see. :p

More changes and growth.

Terrible photo of the flowering aponogeton... the light washed it out, but you get the picture.

This has become the cories favorite place to hang out.

100_7654.jpg

And this is the pleco's favorite spot. If you look hard enough you can see him napping in there.

Mooooom!

100_7665.jpg

Cories getting close to the pleco. He's pretty territorial when he finds "his" hideouts, and it's the cutest thing when he shoos the cories away, he scuttles out with his top fin erect then scuttles back where he came from.

Pleasedon'tdropit view.

A bit blurry but shows off Oliver's finnage well.

Somehow Oliver makes me think of stained glass in that shot...
Does he love swimming under the driftwood arch, or is that just a silly question?

No question is a dumb question! He actually doesn't swim under the arch as much as one would think, surprisingly. But he does love hanging around it. He usually occupies his time swimming through the plants and investigating the flower pot near the front. The cories LOVE swimming under the arch though, and actually will perch on the top of it, which is hilarious if you see it in person. :p

I have pygmies who perch on any/everything and sometimes they make me think of little birds, especially when schooling in 'flight' around the tank, then landing on leaves/wood, etc. to rest.
The multi-tank channel sooooo beats out TV...

Much better use of time! :p
Right before I posted this I checked on the fish, and to my surprise I see not only the cories but Oliver munching on their bottom-feeder tab. Silly betta! He's getting along with them so well though- they've gotten used to all his antics.

How big is the tank?

Pretty betta, nice dark blue in the fins.

Tank is looking great! :good:

I thought Corydoras didn't like gravel? and isn't the tank a little small for them?

Love the pot in there, may have to try that myself xx

The tank looks phenomenal and Oliver is gorgeous! And the rest of your fish are adorable! I was curious about your pot - can you just take any terra cotta pot you buy at a plant/home store or do they have to be special? I was not sure if they give off any stuff that would be harmful to the fish.

The gravel is small/light enough that they actually can easily move it around.
They don't seem to mind the size. They're happy and healthy.
The pots make for a fast and cheap hiding place :)

I bought the pots in my tank at walmart, scrubbed them in hot water, then put them in the tank. No problems have arisen. :)

Even glazed terracotta should be fine unless you plan on breaking it, in which case I'd stick to unglazed.

Great news! I had wanted to do a clay pot originally, but saw some mention on the net about NEVER putting ANYTHING in a tank that"s not specifically labeled for aquarium, so I [being the gullible newbie that I am :) ] dropped the idea. I wil DEFINITELY try this in the future...

Aw, thanks for saying it is pretty. I've been working hard.
Anyone can make a tank look like mine, it's not perfect but I am happy with it. Just takes time and effort.
A lot about working with a small tank is scale- plants, rocks, wood, etc. I'm going to pick up some small foreground plants, maybe some flame moss as well as soon as I can afford it, which should help the scale out. :)
If you want any advice feel free to ask. :)
