Total Betta Tank Revamp- Natural Tank

awww hope he gets well soon, I am sure he will be ok, I did that with my dwarf puffs once and they were fine, no damage. Keep us updated and hope he gets well soon :)

Bad news keeps getting worse.

I've had him under treatment, in quarantine, since my last post. His condition is only getting worse. Keep your fingers crossed for my boy. :(

Definitely have fingers crossed on both hands for Oliver. Concerned though that he is getting worse. Make sure you are treating him for the right thing. You can post a note with all the details of what happened and everything you have done since. They are very knowledgable on that forum. Good luck! Hope to be hearing good news from you two soon...

Oliver's on the road to recovery, thank god. There were times I wasn't sure if he would make it. Unfortunately he's lost a fair chunk of finnage due to the whole ordeal.. Tank and fish are all doing well. :D

Frustrated as anything with brown algae on my ludwigia repens... pulled it out and gave it a bleach/water dip. Hopefully it kills the algae. It was getting really ridiculous... :/

So glad to hear he's ok. : )

Thank you. :3
Went through the maracyn treatment, fin rot stopped, so reintroduced Oliver back to the main tank. Giving him the rest of the night to chill out and investigate the rescaped tank. Tomorrow I will post pics. :)

Tried to get him to eat, he hasn't eaten in at least 2 weeks. Spat out his normal pellets and bloodworms. Ate a few freeze dried tubifix worms. Hoping his appetite will re emerge.

Good luck! For now just feed him whatever he will eat. That's better than him not eating at all. Did he spit out freeze dried bloodworms? If u really want to tempt him I'd offer live ones. I was trying to salvage this one betta and he had not eatenin at least 10 days. Would not eat pellets not even when soaked in garlic. He first ignored the live worms too, but I dangled it with tweezers in front of his nose until he snapped at it in anger. Once he had one bite - that was it. He was scarfong down worms ike there was no tomorrow. In fact that was ALL he would eat - but that's a separate problem to solve later. For now just find the most tempting stuff and get him to eat and get his strength back. I have also found tha my bettas go crazy over the atison Betta Pro. Never tried the Bio Gold on them but once I switched to Atison Betta Pro they got twice as excited at feeding time. Anyways - I suggest u get some live bloodworms and actually dangle them in front of him, if u can. In fact that's what I did with the sick betta I had. I scooped him into a cup and held wriggling worms so close to him that they tickled his mouth. Once he ate 2 or 3 I put him back into his home and he started eating regulalry after that (as long as it was blood worms - he stgnored the pellets). Anyways - that's just from my experience in case u get desperate to get him to eat.

Upon Wilder's advice Oliver is getting a second round of treatment, just to be sure, so he's back in the hospital tank.
Got him to eat his pellets today which was fantastic.
Snapped some photos while he was in the tank... (tank has been re-scaped AGAIN), that I will post tonight. :D

Funny story about this mystery snail. My dad and I were at Wal Mart and I went to check out the fish supplies. As my dad followed me, he heard a crunch. We looked and it was this black mass. Nearby was another black lump. I walked over and noticed it was a mystery snail. Now, this is at least 10 feet away from all the fish tanks. So I picked him up and asked a person who worked there if they wanted to to throw him back in their tanks. The employee said it was probably dead so I could take it if I wanted because she would throw him away if I didn't. Not wanting him to die I took him home and but him in a quarantine bowl, where he immediately popped out of his shell. So, yep.

If Wilder is helping you, then you're in good hands - he's a genius! Good news that he is eating. Sounds like he's definitely "over the hump". I' looking foward to those pics ... : )

Very nice tank, but I have one suggstion, next time your rescape the tank, lean the mopani wood against one of the back panes of glass so that you can view the tank easier and it is more eye-pleasing & less of an eye-sore :D

get the shrimp species confirmed in shrimp section hun cos they dont look like normal algae eating shrimp but look like the shrimp that nip fish and end eat fry -

to me they look similar to red claw Macrobrachium but might be another sort of Macrobrachium or a normal algae shrimp - please get it checked cos these could be the problem

I've had them confirmed as freshwater Ghost Shrimp by several high quality LFS.
Also they have shown no agressiveness whatsoever to any of my fish, and frankly are "pushovers".

Cool, will keep that in mind, thanks.
