A new generation or colour variety of kangaroo paws come in and are alive and the old generation/colour variety of kangaroo paws die. Put it in simple terms, a new colour variety lives and dies and repeats again.

New kangaroo paws just appear each year from the seeds. The older plants last for 3 or 4 years, sometimes longer but not much (5 or 6 yrs is maximum life span for the ones I studied). There was a combination of old and new plants growing there all the time.

Ah, yes. How many generations/colour varieties of kangaroo paws occurred while you were studying the bushland near your old house? And did you take pictures of the plants while you studied them?

The kangaroo paws that grew in the area were Anigozanthos manglesii. It's normal colour is a red stem with green flowers. The colour mutations that appeared included:
green stem with red flowers,
red stem with red flowers,
yellow stem with green flowers,
green stem with yellow flowers,
a giant version of green stem with yellow flowers that was over 6 feet tall, and a mini version that was about 12 inches high. Normal flowers grow to about 18-24 inches high including the stem.
olive green stem with pink flowers that looked like it was dying when viewed from a distance but when you got close you could see the true colours.

I had photos of all of them but they were on a hard drive that disappeared from my room when I was on the street.

You could've send some pictures of the kangaroo paws (I understand that they disappeared on your hard drive) to Kings Park Botanical Gardens or a university for a study on how colour mutations work. The long-term study would've been great for scientists because the CALM (I don't know what the acronym means) area near Riverton was a hotspot for colouration of kangaroo paws, sundews and orchids.

The day was okay. I like myself and my tetras. Fed them for the second time, in a small amount. Labour Day is coming to a close. I will go back to school tomorrow.

Today's Tuesday. The days come and go as usual. Will check if the tetras are okay, and will feed them. I'm doing okay at the moment, I do like helpful people on the forum.

It's Wednesday. Being cautious about laws regarding native fish. I understand that such fish are protected by the government and we hobbyists need to be really cautious because of the laws.

Okay, it can be hard sometimes, but I'm feeling better nowadays. Fed the tetras and I will go to the social group after school.

@Colin_T

Is it okay to discuss about your dogs in the thread? What were the dogs' names? Did the kelpie protect the Papillion sometimes? Were there some amazing things the dogs did?

I say collect random pretty fish from the water ways, and if the police show up at your door, just say "whoopsies"

(Joking, don't do that)
