Today's a new day.

what happened?
Apologies for the late reply, just got home from work. Family issues. I occasionally have family issues due to some circumstances. And it's International Women's Day today, which is a good thing. I'm going to be a woman soon. For now, I'm just a teenage girl.

Good evening. I'm okay now. Did 7hr and 41min of work today because I missed out yesterday. I like all the different people around the world. The world keeps spinning, as always. @Colin_T, I agree that it is baffling that the state and federal governments allow Woodside on mining gas and deep sea mining for other companies. The United Nations did sign a Global Ocean Treaty two years ago, which promises to protect 30% of the world's oceans by 2030. The climate's getting hotter, which is bad. I am concerned about the extinction of native freshwater and saltwater fish. I am interested in fish in general because of their unique families and looks. Norway and a few other countries recently approved deep sea mining. :(

No need to appologise for being late on here. We all have lives and don't always spend it here.

Family issues happen to everyone, it's part of being a family. The old saying of "You can choose your friends but you can't choose your family" still stands true today.

International Women's Day applies to all females young and old. It's good they have this day but sad so many women are still treated as inferior and slaves.

Tell me about work, when did you get this job, where is it, do you enjoy it, etc?

Good Sammy in Fremantle under a traineeship. The traineeship ends next year, after I graduate high school. It's a big retail shop, but I saw a small fishbowl here, but not buying it currently. I used to work in the Booragoon store (the nearest one from my home) but it was near a 7-11 foodary and it had its benefits, but the Freo store does not have a 7-11 and instead has a cookie store near the store. Work is pretty good, learnt how to use the till and hanging stuff up, as per Good Sammy jobs in the retail sector.

I was joined by a nice, but smaller lady called Sheryl and she was helpful. The manager was helpful too. I knew the skills very quickly when I first went into the Fremantle store. She's much older than me and worked in Good Sammy stores for decades. I only worked at the Booragoon and Fremantle stores for months in comparison. I get paid more than my brother, which is a bonus. :)

The fishbowl was a small one, doesn't fit any inhabitants in here. It was easy to carry, however. It could be used as a vase, but nothing else. 10 gallons is the minimum size for an appropriate fish bowl.

That's where I got the medium-sized round jar from, the Fremantle store. The Booragoon store was much smaller and mostly focused on donations, while the Fremantle store has everything in between. More vinyl records than the Booragoon store, for example. The atmosphere at the Freo store is much better than the Booragoon store. I usually catch the 511/513 bus from my school to Fremantle and walk to Good Sammy. It's near a hotel and the Town Hall. I will explore more of the things I like the most, like fishkeeping in my own time.

How do you get to Fremantle, bus or parents?
Transperth bus. I catch the Transperth bus because there is a bus stop directly at my school and is a 15 min drive to Fremantle, including stopping. The parents go to work, and my brother at school. I have an Education Assistant with me and she stays until 3:15pm when I work at full days in case I miss Thursday because of the EA not feeling well. The busstop at Fremantle is near the Markets. I walk from here to Good Sammy. I enjoy being in Fremantle during school time in Friday because I don't have to do school in that day.

We leave at 2:15pm and before that we arrive at 9:20am to start my shift.

Work atmosphere is better compared to the Booragoon store. I colour-code clothes, hang stuff up, etc. And I like it. :)

In four days time, it will be a blue Monday. Usual school-time mood as per normal when the day comes. The days come and go, and I usually do normal stuff. I like @Colin_T, he's a nice person.

Hi Colin, how's your day been? Just checking if you're okay. Well, my world and your world have some things that we have in common, such as fishkeeping. :) We usually delve into the world of fishkeeping together because we know each other very well. We share some differences between each other and we both enjoy the same hobby. Perth people in forums usually get along with each other, but not always in some cases. We are the only active people from Perth in the forum. I know my boundaries very well. Sometimes there are some funny things in life, but we usually corporate together. We are great people, and that's what we strive for. We are lucky to be born here and I really like the atmosphere here.

I like going to a small froyo shop in Fremantle called Tutti Frutti for some frozen yoghurt with toppings occasionally. They have a lack of customers due to some changes from customers' minds over time. I'm one of the only customers who visit the shop occasionally. What was your favourite food-related place to go, Colin?

I don't have a favourite food place, I have too many food allergies to eat most things. I used to like a Chinese take away store and went there every week for nearly 20 years. Same order each week, chicken chow mien, large fried rice, spring rolls and prawn crackers. The owner/ chef was called Ray and I watched his kids grow up while they were helping in the shop. It was a sad day for fast food when he closed down, most of the people in the area used to visit him regularly for their weekly take away meal.

Today's Saturday. Much better morning than yesterday. Feeling relaxed and ready to go do stuff today. I trust most people due to their kindness, among other things. Not ready to drive an automatic car yet, still waiting for years to prep myself to do so. @Colin_T, can I discuss about your dogs, Chloe (kelpie) and Snuffy (Papillion) in here? Snuffy was much smaller than Chloe. Did the dogs have unique behaviours that other dogs don't have? I don't know why Chloe was declared as dangerous by the city council. I used to like dogs a lot. I wish I met her... :( The dogs were good company to you because they were friendly and make great companionship. Dogs are interesting animals. Their behaviours are usually predictable.

It's already Saturday down there? Man, it's barely 8pm (2000) where I'm at.

While I can't speak for Colin's dogs, I've always heard that Kelpies, while not aggressive, tend to be reserved with strangers (human and canine) and can be a bit nippy and on edge when nervous. Nothing wrong with them, just how some of the high drive herding breeds (I've noticed a majority of these breeds seem to be predominantly one-person/family dogs) turn out.

I noticed that you said "I used to like dogs a lot." I hope I don't come off as prying or anything, but do you not enjoy dogs currently?

(I'm really sorry if I come off as a lot, especially this late in the thread. I believe I've commented on some previous threads of yours, but if not, I'm a (as of the end of this month) 16yo female from the U.S.)

Hi @gilltyascharged, welcome back to the thread. My like of dogs changed over time, like birdwatching and other old hobbies. I liked dogs because they were interesting animals and I used to know the breeds. But my habit of liking dogs changed a year ago, and I don't have a like of dogs anymore. I wish I liked them again, but my mind doesn't exactly like them nowadays except for friendly dogs.

My part of excitement of the day. Apparently I contacted the LFS holding the paludarium classes, and I might go on next Thursday or the Thursday after. The 36cm paludarium holding 9L for the water part cost $280, but I wanted it larger (at least 33L) so it can fit nano-fish in here, so here goes additional $50 each. I asked them some usual questions about the paludarium classes, but they mentioned that 9L is fine for a betta. I don't know about that, but shrimp may do okay here.

9 litres = 2.4 gallons and many people still think that's OK for a betta.
Welcome back to the thread. I asked some UP Aqua paludarium (the one that the LFS is going to use in their workshops) questions on a separate thread, if you like to answer them.

I'm not really interested in padulariums, I just get cross with the old "bettas live in puddles in the wild so tiny tanks are fine for them" thing.
