Hey guys, me and my dad just finished half of this weeks project: clearing out black sand and pebbles for more white sand less pebbles but still some to make it look like a river bed! I still think there is too mch sand in the tank....does anybody know how much you should put in a tank? Sand I mean

It's personal preference. In my 75g the back left corner is up to 6 inches and slopes down to 1 inch in the bottom right. My 46g is about 2 in. the front sloped up to 3 in the back.

my 10g is 3/4 of an inch even.

I have live plants so I do need enough to plant the crowns of swords in.

Hey Lovelies!
I'm watching my hoplo being protective of the swordie fry that hid in the java moss. He's shooing the swordtails from the moss. Lol.
The swordie babies look kind of odd though, they're lemon colored, yet I know what fish gave birth to them so why are they so small, compared to the rest I've had? o_O
Tzuppy's so cute, swimming in circles around the bush.

Eris is on the left, got pushed away by Tzup.

Fry with water sprites. Tzuppy's around too.

Tzuppy, defender of the fry!
This morning, I saw two of them atop the filter where he was roaming. And 3 more in the bush. Which means there are 5 survivors at least.
Still pondering if I should let Pinky in there with the other fry, she's pretty big to not fit in the bigger swordies' mouths but knowing Cracker and his habits to kill fry and leave them there...

Hey lovelies. It must be around 30C here. My electronic thermometer stopped functioning though, there's no way it's 20C here when I can fry an egg outside.

Hey Lovelies!
Was watching the hoplo sit with a fry around his snout. Seems like not even the adult fish pay any attention to these fry. It's odd that only these ugly ones are ignored so much while the nice looking ones are like a magnet for the adults to eat.
Within a week I'll set Pinky free in there, she's about 2 cm long so should not fit into the swordtails' mouth.

Hey Lovelies!!!

I took my daughter to the park today to go on the swings.. On the entrance to the park it clearly says "NO ANIMALS"..

If it clearly says no animals allowed, why did I step in dog poop??

As George would say "We're trying to have a society here!"

ah found my first dead fish :(
Sad to hear.....I can't seem to find a certain Double Bar Platy that was in my 36 gallon.

EDIT: I just found the Platy behind the fish tank, he musta jumped out. I'll miss the little guy.

That's only 86 degrees Farenwhateva. Fishblast must be an eskimo.

No, I don't like temps under 18C and my brain kind of starts shutting down at anything below 10C. (got a low grade that way when I could not answer due to coming into the classroom from the cold, only for the teacher to find out during that class that I DID know the lesson for that day, quite perfectly, but could not say much due to being still frozen).
But I hate 30C+ temps. It's so hot here that we got a chiller to barely keep temp in the perfect zone and it may fail if it gets to 35C or more.

Hey Lovelies.
I'm eating meat balls while watching my snail Kadenza cleaning the Java Fern of debris. The leaves he's been on look very clean now.
