I moved Ninja back to the main tank, as Sushi is being a jerk towards the little guy... I hope Ninja survives there... his stupid brother nipped his dorsal and tail fin :(

I'm just toying with the idea since I have plenty of little containers to keep the fry in. If any survive to full size I could pluck the females I want out & keep a couple of males in the 10 gallon with a partition. The rest would be taken to a local fish store. Winter is pretty far away and I don't have to decide anytime soon.

Yeah but changing water so many for fry could get quite annoying.

Little bowls aren't that hard to change Deto, in fact you can bring them to the sink! Just mix up more than enough dechlorinator and pour right in. Boom!

Poor little Ninja with ragged fins...

And I am not sure he is eating anything either. He seems to only swim close to the surface but not peck the food.

I think maybe he is just settling in. It is probably a bit scary in with the huge adults, as the only other time he has seen them was when he was a tiny fry, and they tried to eat him!

Nope, when he was a tiny fry, he was born in this bowl.

That's him on the left.

And his mom didn't try to eat him.

The second time he saw adult fish was at the beginning of this summer, a while after Pinky was in with the adults too. None were trying to eat him. But I put him back into the fry cage a month later, for preventive reasons after the mysterious illnesses and disappearances of other big fry.

Ah, I see! I'm not sure what could be stressing him then... Maybe the stress of Sushi attacking him yesterday?

Whenever my platy fry are big enough to go with the adults I release them and watch them like a hawk  But they settle in straight away... Literally, a few minutes and they are alongside the adults. I always release them then feed them so they can go to the surface with the adults to eat and they kind of get to know eachother

He's eating some dried daphnia (crushed finely).

I did watch my fry daily for like 1-2 months while in the tank. All the disappearances happened hours after or over night after I saw the big fry acting strange. The adults showed no signs of aggression towards the big fry either. Which makes it even weirder.
Even the hoplo could have sucked in the smaller fry, but instead, the fry were playing around his mouth and all he cared about was sucking the food I put there for them. So, if he avoids small fry, why would he eat the bigger ones and how since he can't fit them in his mouth though?

On a side note:
It's annoying me how every time my fish eat dried daphnia, they poop white. It's so easy to mistake for hexamita or parasites. X_X

Hey lovelies!!!!

I found a nice 105 gallon setup, but I'm unsure of the dimensions and if I'll like them.

Still looking at this 75:

There's probably an 80-85% chance I'll get this tank, or another one similar sized. I like that one though, and I think I've almost talked my dad into it.

Good looking aquarium MoF, looks like it's brand new:

Includes a Fluval 405 canister filter, which is their older style, but it still has a good reputation. All the decorations are garbage in my opinion though & the price is a bit high at $450. Make sure the stand is solid looking & feeling since much of the price is the furniture. You offered him $300 right? What did he say?

Hey Lovelies!
Found one of my sparkling gouramis dead this morning.
In my bigger tank I noticed one of my platys has a torn tail. Hmmmm, I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the betta, though I've been spying on him and he seems ok.
Nice big water change and a right old clean on both tanks today.
Not much else to report Lovelies.......

Betta and gourami can clash. Esp sparklings, which are peaceful fish and will get attacked / bullied even by fish that are just greedy over food.
What kind of betta is it?
