Against my better judgement, he came from swallows, SG was 1.014  still acclimatising, up to 1.020 now!!!!!!!!!

Good job she / he ended up in a good home where she/he will be looked after.

As you are going slowly (drip I presume) she / he will be fine. Especially in your care.

Cannot understand some places, luckily don't seems to have many like that by me.

Having worked in the trade, we always kept sg at lower levels to allow for displacement, evaporation ,etc... but never that low!!! Each night the last job was to top up sumps and balance out sg..doesnt take long and should be done automatically, if not ran on an auto controlled system..
This makes life a whole lot easier for us as keepers..good job you tested that sg and knew what to do..for most beginners out there that could have been a disaster in the making...

Yes Buddy, my lfs uses 1.023, which is lower than we keep a reef. As you say though, it allows for various factors. Never seen one that low round here.

I do always drip, have never tested the water in the past as I had a hydrometer, bit difficult with that. Now I have a refractometer, will definately be checking.

I always check the SG of LFS water when I buy fish, (Luckily) Swallows normally keep their tanks at 1.017, but it has obviously fallen
It took me around 3 hours to get it up to 1.024.
Foxy is doing OK he is eating but still hiding at the back of the tank, its quite alarming seeing him go from a gorgeous bright yellow to a horrible black/brown colour, hopefully in a few days he will be happy enough to come out for a swim :good:

Nice fishy :)

Isn't crazy how they color change like that  I'd think he'd come out of it soon, though. You have a great home for him

I have no idea what my lfs sg runs at on the fish side. I've never bought any fish from them. Their coral side runs normal, though....lol probably because it has to, not b/c they want to.

Thank you, he has started to be a bit adventurous and come out a bit :good:
In their fish tanks they don't have LR or sand just stupid ornaments  thats why they can have the SG so low, less risk of disease if it's kept low, and all their corals are in different tanks, but none ever look healthy, so I have never bought a coral from them, I wouldn't normally buy fish from them either, but this fellow was just screaming at me ;)

well can we see a few more pics of him in the tank please

thanks

regards scott
