Again..a true stunner!!....Unfortunately Trod there is no external difference in the sexes of this lion.pick a sex and name him/her lol..If being picky about shrimp add a few young guppies, mollies, etc as this will make it easier to wean him onto frozen lance,etc...Keep trying with shrimp but as you can then add large krill,prawns to his diet eventually....may take up to a week until he feels settled enough to attempt feeding, then he wont stop,lol.....
Kept these beauties a few times over the years and have to say by far my favourite lion..if wanting a mixed lion group now, add either antennata or dwarves like fuzzy and fu manchu....larger volitans can threaten these smaller super models in smaller set ups....

Ok, I'm not alarmed just yet, but I have just seen a large white patch on the back of my lion Which wasn't there yesterday.
But I have done some research and found that they have a thin membranous lining called a cuticle, and when stressed they shed this layer and it comes off as white mucus.

Yep..got it in one..this will vanish in a few days..have seen them covered nose to tail with this slime coating...will simply disappear as quick as it appeared.

From what Buddy says, looks like the companion is going to an antennata. They are too.

Unfortunately its not good news, My first lion fish Died yesterday, the white mucus covered his whole body, and obviously the shock of transfer was just to much for him. The fact that he had been kept in SG of 1.015, although I acclimatised him over many hours, was too much. I shall not be buying any livestock from this LFS anymore, even though, My foxface is doing really well and feeding, I think I have been lucky with him.

I now have several Ghost shrimps swimming around my tank, will they be OK in there or should I try to get them out?

You shouldnt contact the LFS about it!
It can only get better though im sure.

Are you coming down leicester with mr.trod and mr.seffie?
I could ring round acouple of LFS and see if they have any lions in?

Thanks YF, unfortunately I won't be going with them, I'm still not 100% and the journey would be just to much for me, But thank you for the thought
