Not a bad place, im assuming that tank has a glass lip inside it on front and back as it looks like a clearseal tank, if not then might need a bit of fiddling around.

I have a hard time getting anything flush when I'm plastered.

no it doesnt have to be spot on air tight mate, just need to cover as much of the surface area as you can and it drastically reduces the amount of water that escapes.

I've just ordered some plastic from that site myself for my 18x10x10 fry tanks, i've had my sheets cut at 17 x 9.5 which leaves a tiny bit of room, along the side and a whole inch at one end for my filter cables, heater cables and somewhere to put a punch of food in so i dont have to lift the lid. :)

Well, I just spent TWO hours getting rid of plastic in my 40g. You can see the new look here. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/382783-from-plastic-to-planted/page__p__3212545__fromsearch__1#entry3212545 I do not want to flood this thread with pictures.

Here is one pic of the new scape though.

My first tank. Four days since filled and just about to start cycling. Will be doing some planting this weekend then leaving them to mature. I already appear to have some new growth on the existing plants, which is encouraging considering my track record in the garden
