Show Off Your Tank!

cheers peeps will add some more pics of it as i was building it. and of it from the back with the sump etc.

Once you get live plants in there, it will be incredible!! It's looking really, really good, especially compared to when you first posted photos.

Like I said, I am really appreciative of any input. I want my tanks to look good, not just for me, but for my fishies.

my first attempt at a Live Planted Tank its relatively new setup so i need to give time for the sand and crap to settle down got some fine filter wool in there which should hopefully catch up alot of the crap in the water and a few water changes and it should look nice :)

Nice, what kind of grass is that?

i think its

2 Amazon Sword in the back left.
2 Vallis Torta in the back right.
2 Chlorophytum Bichetii in the centre at the back and
3 Ophiopogon Japonicus at the front.

somebody correct me if im wrong :)

I think some Anubias would work well. If you have a PetCo near you they have Anubias attached to driftwood for $9.99 and you can re position it if you want because it isn't in the substrate. Java Fern is also nice although I don't have any.................

Am i missing something, how do you access the tank / filters for maintenence? is there a lid on there to stop water evaporating and causing mould?

there is a door round the back to acess the tank and sump and to stop mould. got a lid for it but was just going to use a dosing pump to keep water topped up and not use lid.

I'd use a sheet of perspex at least to cover it, you would be suprised how much water can evaporate on a surface area that large, it will cause mould and of course health issues. I'd get that knocked on the head pretty soon if i were in your shoes. is there any way the tank can be pulled out to go flush with the wall? Would look a lot nicer and you could get rid of the shadow that the lip at the top causes.

Sorry, not trying to be critical, its an excellent job so far :)

will get lid then i then. i wanted to make it flush but with it being plastered it just would not work so had to put a frame arounrd it. i have removed the black plasic you can see

plus the other problem with a lid is the overflow box at the back will have to custom some perspex

i did thats why i put a frame around it. trying to find a lid now. problem is my overflow box. wont get a seal
