It is indeed, bet KJ will be getting that off quick time - little snail might rub against something and pop those horrid things

:fish:

lol that snail has some amazing hats

i know your excitment got my hammer coral yesterday which ive wanted for over a year

okie dokie I did a ton...well not really a ton :) ... of tank work tonight. Did my water change and put the preskimmer on the powerhead. Took pics to show you how dirty my water really is.

My preskimmer rinsed and ready to go

All that crap floating on the top of the water :(

This is how I've been doing my wc. A maxijet 1200 upside down to suck the junk off the top of the water. As the water level drops, I adjust the ph.

Look at how much cleaner the water is

The preskimmer installed. I've adjusted the height a few times after this and I think I'm happy w/it so far. It's taking a bit off the surface.

Makes me glad I painted the back black. The preskimmer blends in pretty well. At least until it starts growing coralline.

thx :)

Now if I can just get the green rock turning purple  There are small spots all over it, but not enough to see it in a fts.

Would a two little fishies reactor be ok for carbon?? Am thinking that there wouldn't be much difference between the two granular wise (know they do different jobs entirely). Or would I need something different. Am thinking I'll leave my p04 remover in my skimmer return and then just use a small hang on reactor for carbon? Sound good or not?

:D

Oh and the snail has been stripped clean of the cool looking party hat  I took a box cutter blade to him  Was a little nervous. The last time I used a blade of any sort I took a junk out of my finger. I was ever so careful and rinsed the shell off in fw in the sink  Was afraid that might kill him tho. I was ever so careful to make sure I didn't get any fw on his body itself. Just on the shell. So far its running around the tank and doesn't look funny...or like it's going to croak. Good Luck so far. That's the only spot I saw those bubbles so hopefully they are taken care of and I don't have to start a HUGE algea battle

Received the light today and I have plugged it in to make sure it works :yahoo: It does work. Will now plan on setting up soon!!

lol yea it is overkill but that's what was available at the time, plus it's low profile to fit in my tiny space :)

maybe i'll have to chuck a few sps in there :shifty:

Was a little nervous about the package :(

Now we just have to figure out how to hang it. I think I'm gonna call hamilton and get the hanging kit for it ($10 w/ship). I want to be able to move the light to the left or right and still be able to work in the tank w/light over it. I'm thinking that I could put quite a few hooks to be able to do so.

It's bright as hell. I tried it to make sure it worked and it lit up my WHOLE DINING ROOM and some Wow.

When I first plugged it in it wasn't to impressive, tho.

What do you guys/gals think about the bird netting mesh screen to block the light for awhile?? Will really layer it up and then take off a layer at a time maybe twice a week. I don't want to light shock my zoas :(

You can see the growth on the paly's. Had 2 to begin with and now there's like 4-5 new ones.

These are filling out too.

Tank got warm the other day :( Didn't have the AC on. Have had the talk about temperature of the house since we have the new halide now. Hubby knows.

I want to change the bulb to a 20k eventually. Compatible bulbs from DRs foster/smith are:

XM 250W 20,000°K

Aqualine Buschke 250W 20,000°K

Or what about an USHIO 250W HQI DE from Aquacave?

Or 250 Watt 20000K Metal Halide Bulb - Blue Life SPS (South Pacific Sunlight), Double-Ended (I think these sound pretty cool)
