Setting Up The 29g. Totally Psyched I Have Saltwater In My Living Room

sorry if ive missed it mate, but how is the yellow clown goby doing?

Looks like everything is getting better!

Bagu

Yep he's still around  Sometimes he's fairly yellow and other times he's more whitish yellow. Not sure entirely what's up with that?

i like your fish choices

shame about the clown problems though :(

Thanks Ben :) I was thinking about changing my lighting and adding a c. acanthops, but I think I just make this tank a softy tank. I'm saving for something BIG hopefully next spring. I'll have to see how much I can save over the next 6 months or so. The fact that we aren't paying daycare for the middle child anymore will help achieve my objective and I've already cleared my idea w/my hubby.

Yea tough about the clown. I was quite saddened :byebye:

Its always horrible when you lose a fish so sorry to hear about the clown, glad to see the other one in clearing up well though.

Got to say however i am loving the pair of yasha gobys. I have wanted one for a long time now but they are quite expensive at my lfs so keeping an eye out for a bargain to swing my way as not in a massive hurry to get one!

The trio was $150 (us dollars)

I am not sure wether that is good or not on the other side of the pond but my lfs is selling them at approx £40 if i remember correctly and that to me it quite expensive for such a small little fish! :(

One of my lrc guys offered to test my water for me!! YAY I was excited.

He has a hannah phosphate tester thingy too. Phosphate was .25. He said that wasn't to bad b/c reef crystals has .1 in it. Just advised to complete my planned wc and switch my rowaphos.

Calcium, Magnesium, alk were all pretty good. One was a tad low, I think I was Mag. That should correct itself w/my impending water change, though.

It was really exciting to go over to his house. He has 11 sw tanks that he runs tests on. He also is the one that has the shark tank. Has a TON of anemones and fish. His largest tank is a 600g full of tangs. It's a real treat to get to visit his house.

I would love to take a ton of pictures of his tanks

As I said his 600g is full of tangs. Has a 400 something gallon w/half a dozen nems in it as well as an assortment of fish. Has a couple 100 gallon tank for the shark. Has another couple 100 gallon tank with a divider in it. Tons of nems on the right side and a few more on the left with an assortment of clowns too. Has probably a 60ish gallon cube w/softies in it + some fish. Has a 55gallon qt tank which are full of various clowns right now (at least 20 juvies in there..temporarily I may add). Has a 200g w/an assortment of fish. has a tank full of ricordia maybe a 40g or so. has 2 29g biocubes. One houses his pair of ORA platinum percula's. Other has other clowns, yellow assessor, gobies/shrimp in it.

His nitrates get up to 100ppm in some of his tanks(then he does a water change. Imagine that a 25% change is 100g on the 400g tank  ). Still has some inverts too. He can't keep many corals and def not sps. He has HUGE skimmers and a billion reactors. His water holding container that he holds his r/o and then mixed saltwater containers in are taller than me (5 feet). It's really something. Takes a lot of work to keep it all up and running. Think of how many hours he must spend to keep coralline at bay...wow.

So you going to take some diving kit with you & get in next time. Those tanks are enormous. He will charging ticket ntry soon...
