I love love love my vortech!!!! If we had more play $$$ I'd have nothing but vortechs. Unfortunately, will only have this one on my next tank. Have other pumps to use so the less we need to buy the more $$ can go into good rock and fish.
Will set up a 75g reef ready (4ft x 18" x 21") with another 75 as a sump. Even if the sump is half full I'll have over 100g in water volume. I'm planning on making about 1/3 of the sump into a fuge. The tank will drain into the main line and I'll tee it off to drain into the skimmer compartment and the fuge. Sump will be configured as follows below:
skimmer comp...... return.......fuge side.
Oh the skimmer is a reef octopus dnw recirculating. The reason for the tee is to control the flow to the fuge. Both skimmer and fuge section will flow toward the center of the sump to the return section. This is to ensure that the pods that run out of my fuge will get blown to my DT and not ran through the skimmer getting chopped or something. The baffles for the skimmer section will have a bubble trap with the usual 3 baffles. First and last baffles will set on the bottom of the tank with the middle 1" off the bottom. They will be spaced 1" apart from each other. Haven't decided on the height yet.
The stand will be 5 feet long and 2' front to back to allow for extra space. Need to have the top off under there along with misc stuff yet to be determined...haha. Gotta have room for toys. I will buy a dual reactor from bulk reef supply to run both carbon and phosphate media. I have 3 different lights. Have 2 250w metal halides and 1 400 watt metal halide. Haven't decided if I want to run a 400 with a 250 or do both the 250's on the tank. Might just try both and see how they each look.
It will be a completely (as much as possible) PEACEFUL reef setting. I don't want anything to intimidate my potter's wrasse nor have to try to catch crap b/c it went rogue. There will be NO crabs of any kind either. Not even hermits. They are all opportunistic and I'm erring on the side of caution.
Fish stocking:
Must have's:
Potter's Wrasse Macropharyngodon Geoffroyi===may try for a pair
Trio of McCosker's flasher wrasses
Pair of red fire fish
Contemplating:
Jawfish: BSJ or Ospistognathus sp (Goldspecs jawfish), or yellow head
Shrimp n goby combo. May scrap the jawfish idea and go with two sets of fish n shrimps. I feel my footprint should be big enough to try for two sets.

There's a glimpse into my next BIG adventure
