Setting Up The 29g. Totally Psyched I Have Saltwater In My Living Room

The clown goby was added later. It came from an online fish store and I didn't QT him. Maybe it came in from that fish.

It is possible, clown gobies are not the best for settling either are they. The gobies had been a while in the tank on their own with the shrimp, I would think they would be fine.

Didn't the clown goby come with the Cleaner shrimp you lost?? That was a couple of days after you added him too wasn't it. Something could be dodgy with that supplier, has the man whose order you tagged onto had any problems with his??

He had a few ppl order on that one. A copperband butterfly died to. That's it. A shrimp and copperband. He said that's the first time he's had an issue w/that online fish store.

Worth keeping an eye on him and the other fish just in case.

Personally I would'nt use that online store again, thats probably me though. I tend to be a little over anaylitical being a microbiologist. I love epidemiology, have to try to get back to the source, just like in the film "Outbreak".

Do you have a spare tank about incase you need to treat anything??

In other words, have the turkeys (was it that type of poultry) moved out of the QT yet.

Sorry for your loss, you were so excited about those two fish - lets hope the other one is fine :good:

:fish:

I have a 10g, 55g, and a 120g laying around the house

The turkey has moved to a new home. Countryside chicken coop :)

I was talking w/a lrc member last night and he said it could be new tank syndrome too. That for awhile things in the water are going to be a little off and that could've been what caused them to get sick too. I'll keep an eye on the remaining fish.

Thanks seffie n truck.

KJ, the stuff on the clown is likely a form of a clownfish-specific disease called brooknella. It's a parasite which means its treatment options are similar to ich, however it's often not a very virulent parasite. In many cases, feeding heavy with vitamins and garlic can/will save the fish. ORA clowns are great and often disease free, but there's one problem with tank-bred clowns. Their immune systems often times have never had to fight off infection in the first place. So if you do have a dormant parasite in your tank, they can become affected. Hopefully the little gal can fight it off. Good luck

Thanks Ski. I do have selcon and Kent Garlic Extreme now. Trying those and will see how it turns out. Like I said if worse comes to worse and I loose all my fish, I'll just upgrade my lights and concentrate on corals.

I ordered some more things today. One of the extra selcon's is mine. The other I ordere for the reef club member that gave me his so I don't have to wait this to come in the mail. It was nice for him to give me the garlic and selcon. They were half empty so he figured it was an even trade if I just ordered a selcon for him on my order. I told him not to worry about the shipping cost since he was generous enough to offer his stuff.

Item #.........Description.....................................................Price Qty Cost
CD-790026 Bak-Pak Pre-skimmer.........................................$16.99 x 1 = $16.99
CD-400474 Selcon 60 ml........................................................$7.99 x 2 = $15.98
CD-29824 Salifert Alk Test Kit...............................................$19.99 x 1 = $19.99
CD-35676 SmartNets Fine Mesh, 3" x 2-1/2" 10" handle.............$0.79 x 1 = $0.79
CD-35687 SmartNets Brine Shrimp Net, 3" x 2-1/2" 10" handle...$0.99 x 1 = $0.99

I only have larger nets and thought it'd be a good idea to add a few small ones. There have been a few times when the smaller nets would've come in handy.

Sounds like you're doing the right things KJ. The good news is that brooknella is clownfish-specific and will not attack other fish in the tank :good:

video of clown and 3 gobies.

Pictures of my lil guy. Still alive. You can tell he still has some white fuzz on his lip.

Thanks. Yea he used to have white fuzz on both of his front fins too. You can see in the picture that the one is completely cleared up.

Oh and I got a new camera :D Can really tell the difference in picture quality.
