Setting up a new tank, 500L

I just broke my uhm, Gymnocoronis spilanthoides in half. Poor thing. It was already 96cm tall and then I kinda chopped its top off. It will grow new ones, but I liked it that way, with only one stem. But well, thats me, I do this alot ;)

So much for the flora goddess :D

But uhm, I shall be kind to my humble servants. Your aquariums will prosper and plants flower. Uhm, and stuff.

Ok, I promised you a picture. This is a bad one, really bad I mean. It's 2 am here and not much light. I kinda dosed off in the evening and just woke up. I don't feel comfortable using flash while taking a picture of an aquarium, so these ones will have to do for now :/ I will take better ones tomorrow.

I likey!!!

All of your tanks are just SO different from anything else I have ever seen.....Beautiful.

That bluish light on the right is starting to annoy me. Its 10.000K. I didn't dare to put much plants there yet because of the insufficient light. Only one tube on the right side, at least theres two on the left and they look better in the pictures.

Look, fishies.

Lots of them, actually. I put my silver tipped tetras in. No nitrite, so the tank is cycled. It's neat to use bacteria from other tanks, if you put enough of them in the new tank, it will cycle quite fast :)

And there really are fishes, you just need to look close enough.

Thanks =)

I can't wait to see how this one will mature. I hope its gonna look pretty next fall :)
Uh, I forgot the laptop panel open when I took the pictures :/

BTW. I counted six tetras from the last picture.

And you know, guys. I really appreciate your support and kind words. You make me smile :)

Oww, and the uptime is now 12 days for the tank. And one more thing. Gonna get my metal halides hangin from the ceiling next week, or week after that. We are uhm, renovating the outside walls of our house. Thank god its going to be ready next week. I hate the banging and other noises, my fishes don't like them either.

Thats awsome! I hope it grows into a nicer tank... (sometimes they do not grow in well) But, I trust your skills!
:D

If you get some bad karma floating around, your tank will be posessed when it is reaching its maturity and then you will be in trouble with it. You know, smoking and cursing and stuff. Hairy algae, slime algae... And it invites all kind of nasty buggers to your home. Wriggly worm thingies, hydra, slimy snails...

You need to be stern with your tank and guide it to the adulthood. And then, maybe, you will have a good tank that will take care of you when you are old.

Lovely tank.. It has a very real river kind of feel to it, like something you might find in a jungle or something :D

It looks like it will grow wonderfully!

Perhaps you should start a book.

It would be wise to share my, uhm, wisdom with others. My grandchildren would be really proud of me.

Pictures of my room, 12 square meters. And yes, I know that there's a chair on my bed.

I had to use a ladder to climb up to my window and take these ones.

Whee!!

My pygmy cories have been spawning for two days already. Now silver tipped tetras joined the club. They are spawning inside a java moss bush... And honey gouramis are eating caviar right under the bush

Now, you know that I love your tanks... So, please do not take this bad... but you know you have so many tanks that it fills up your WHOLE home... and without a bed, I am afraid that you will never have grandchildren....
unless,,, Are you a mermaid??? :look:

You got me. My dark secret is revealed. I do have a blue thumb, or well, fin.

Yes, I am a mermaid!

I grow scales and fins if even a one drop of water touches me. That's why I got that 2 meter tank, it's perfect for sleeping. :fish:

I haven't measured the humidity. The windows do tend to get wet in the winter when it's really cold outside. But usually I keep windows open and it helps alot.

It's warm in here too. Now it's 26C inside, in the winter it's about 22-25. There's a brick wall on the left (where the big tank is) and sauna (it is used twice a week) on the right and boiler room underneath.

I actually like this room, it's warm and not too dry. But not disturbingly humid. And it's rather cheap to keep the water in the tanks warm enough :D
