Setting up a new tank, 500L

This is an extremely cool thread. Probably website-worthy when you're finished (I love sites with step-by-step setups). Looking forward to future pics.

Ok, I don't know how I did this.

I have a heavily planted 60L tank and some others with just some plants and my babies, dwarf puffers and bettas. Well, I decided to move those plants to my 500L right away. I took 5 plants from the other tanks and lots of plants from the 60l. Now I have a planted 60L and a planted 500L.

I did'nt realise how much there were in that small tank. I'll take a picture soon. It's kinda cool :blink: And weird. :huh:

Want to see more?

I put all the lights I have on top of the tank. Right one is a 18W 10000K Aquastar, left ones are 36W 4000K and 3500K tubes. So, the lighting isn't good atm, but it'll have to do until I get the metal halides hanging from the ceiling.

Thanks =)

I like it. First inhabitants are in, a handful of malaysian trumpet snails. They have such a beautiful, heart shaped faces :wub:

I also added some sand from other tanks, bacteria from normal soil and shrimp sticks for snails (and to get ammonia/ammonium). pH 7, KH 3, GH 5, NO2 0, NO3 0. Oh, and I started adding CO2.

Tis lookin sweet! I bet it is going to be a jungle in there! :D :hyper:

Thanks =)

Wow great! I think you should add even more branches and driftwood. And a background would really kick it up another notch. :kana:

10 bucks says her tank will be so full of wee... um PLANTS, ya, ya PLANTS, that you would never see the background. :p

Propably :)

My tanks tend to be more like jungles than gardens. No amano style for me ;)
I just put the background in place. Nice, black cardboard.

You know, this tank is starting to look soooo tiny. Maybe I should get a bigger one.

You could sleap in your chair... I don't think you need that bed there. I consider it tank room!

True. I could get a, uhm, 200x120x120cm tank, it would be almost 3000 liters. I could sleep with the fishes then.
